I am chiosing an amp for christmas and love the look of the Mustang II however the peavey vypyr 30 looks very attractive aswell. They are both in the same category and both have strengths and weaknesses. I play mostly metal music but enjoy a nice crunch channel aswell id appreciate any response whatsoever that could contribute to this as my mind is boggled :).

Sorry ..Just noticed the Vypyr 30 has no USB recording feature or Fuse like panel... (plus, after gazing there forums ...people are complaining about promised this and that feature(s) coming from peavey and after 2 yrs ..they still wait....) Definitely go for the Mustang II. Fender delivers what they promise and they're not deaf to our ears.

I went through the same thing when deciding what to get. I can't speak for the Viper because I never found one to try, but I can tell you the Mustang II is awesome. I too like to play metal but also want the versatility of a good crunch and clean channels. The Mustang II does everything I want and more. The best thing I like is that it sounds great on low volume but can rock the house if you turn it up. I am very happy with mine. Hope this helps, good luck.

I tested a Vypyr 75 before I purchased my Vox AD60VTX and Fender G-DEC 3. The Vypyr had a problem with being able to turn off the delay. Neither I nor the owner of the store could figure out how to do it. It also sounded more like a Line 6 Spider III (not very responsive...did metal and cleans well, but not much in between). FWIW I'd opt for a Mustang!
