After you record a guitar track in audacity add the compressor effect to the whole track that you recorded, this will make your guitar track louder and much better sounding.

+1, this definitly helps

Yes compression definitely helps. When you get real tricky with using Audacity's onboard effects there is a whole world out there of compression effects (many free ones are really cool and they all work differently) and free VST plug ins...you will first need to audacity's free Vst plug in shell:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/plugins

This page also has places to find other free VST plug ins, etc.

now it works and is awesome. BTW do you know how to make the imput volume a bit louder? its OK the way it is but I would prefer it a little louder. thanks.

Hey All,

Mustang firmware v. 1.8 contains support for USB gain. You can save a separate USB gain level for each preset on the amp. In Fender FUSE, the USB gain setting is found in the Advanced amp tab.

Is that the one called Master Volume, because not all of the amp models have that?

No. For usb gain, you should go to advance amp.

This may help a little. I felt the same about both behemoth's Ableton and Amplitude .. not even sure why Amplitude is included since the Mustang gets all those models than some ..but what I found to work with ASIO (for dummies like me) was a little tiny program called Wavosaur ... It allows you to record using USB over ASIO and you can drop a backing track on it and record yourself into the backing track once you've copied and pasted as mix ..but first always highlight the backing track so it pastes across the entire track ..and I found my guitar volume was to low once i mixed them together but wavasour took care of that ..allowed me to increase the volume on my guitar track then i copied and pasted as a mix .. The entire program is only 224Kb ...5 second download if you cant figure out Ableton..

All you need, but there are additional plug-ins on there website, but I didn't need any.
http://www.wavosaur.com/download/files/Wavosaur.1.0.5.0(en).zip

i. Just make sure after you unzip to make a shortcut to your desktop as there's no installer req.
ii. Go into (Options) - > (Audio configuration) and tick [ON] ASIO Driver.
ii. Plug your guitar and usb cable provided with the AMP and Hit the red
dot to start recording in color

Adding information for recording with Audacity 1.3.xx Beta version.

Unlike Wavosaur, I get snap, crackles and pops when I record, not anything major, but being to lazy to adjust the settings I tried what others mentioned here, Audacity, and was happy to know it doesn't require the ASIO driver. It picks up the Mustang Amp over USB automatically and I do not get any snap crackles or popping sounds. Some soundards will work better with an ASIO enabled driver for recording. .. but Audacity works best with mine. Has to be the BETA version as the stable Audacity 1.2x requires YOU to compile the source with ASIO support. Good luck.

I tried to use Wavosaur as you said, but when I tap the recording button it says "unable to open audio driver in" what should I do?

Ableton has a very good tutorial. Just follow through it and you will get all the basics of how to do simple recording and play back. I'm not a tutorial type of guy, but I would have never figured it out otherwise.

Ableton is a nice little package, and i'm glad they included it. (Compared to the free packages that I used before, Ableton is crazy with options and features.)

Sorry for the late reply (I don't think I can help you much anyhow...but better late then never). Hopefully you figured something out (Ableton?), etc... If your sound is working fine and you're able to listen to music and stuff but still unable to use Wavosaur, Audacity or Ableton... maybe try updating the sound card driver in Windows. Go into the Windows Control Panel, find "Devices" or whatever its called or something that says (update all device drivers) then select just the your sound card driver--try updating it. If that don't work it must be incompatible, in that case you can still grab a cheap 'USB-stick sound card' off eBay and hopefully that will work. I think I paid like $4 for mine...but I haven't tried it with anything....actually..I cant even remember why I bought it now...but I'll bet its works.
