This may help a little. I felt the same about both behemoth's Ableton and Amplitude .. not even sure why Amplitude is included since the Mustang gets all those models than some ..but what I found to work with ASIO (for dummies like me) was a little tiny program called Wavosaur ... It allows you to record using USB over ASIO and you can drop a backing track on it and record yourself into the backing track once you've copied and pasted as mix ..but first always highlight the backing track so it pastes across the entire track ..and I found my guitar volume was to low once i mixed them together but wavasour took care of that ..allowed me to increase the volume on my guitar track then i copied and pasted as a mix .. The entire program is only 224Kb ...5 second download if you cant figure out Ableton..

All you need, but there are additional plug-ins on there website, but I didn't need any.
http://www.wavosaur.com/download/files/Wavosaur.1.0.5.0(en).zip

i. Just make sure after you unzip to make a shortcut to your desktop as there's no installer req.
ii. Go into (Options) - > (Audio configuration) and tick [ON] ASIO Driver.
ii. Plug your guitar and usb cable provided with the AMP and Hit the red
dot to start recording in color

Adding information for recording with Audacity 1.3.xx Beta version.

Unlike Wavosaur, I get snap, crackles and pops when I record, not anything major, but being to lazy to adjust the settings I tried what others mentioned here, Audacity, and was happy to know it doesn't require the ASIO driver. It picks up the Mustang Amp over USB automatically and I do not get any snap crackles or popping sounds. Some soundards will work better with an ASIO enabled driver for recording. .. but Audacity works best with mine. Has to be the BETA version as the stable Audacity 1.2x requires YOU to compile the source with ASIO support. Good luck.

I got a Mustang I about a month ago mainly to have as an amp to take around with me when I travel over the holidays. I have to say that it really has some fun tones in it. I love the tweed deluxe tones. It's pretty easy to figure out just from goofing around with it, but here's the manual in English:

http://support.fender.com/manuals/softw ... nglish.pdf

As for Ableton, there's a tutorial in the program that I started trying to follow along with one time, but I didn't have the patience to keep up with it. I might try it again sometime when I get bored.

aLinux, thanks for the heads-up on Wavosaur. That sounds much more user-friendly for someone who just wants to push the record button and have it record.

PFF, hope you enjoy the Mustang. There's a couple of the presets that sound pretty decent and useable for Floyd sounds.

10 EURO took only $13.40 CAN off my cc. Good investment :o)
(Its FREE to use), but If you donate something to them ..you'll get a lifetime license in case they decide to change there license agreement, which is there right to do. Most software authors do change licensing agreements eventually, when there software becomes popular ..so to be safe... u know... (Also ...supposedly run under Linux using WINE (Windows Emulator)).

Wavasaur has more plug-ins and skins avaiable on there website... which I haven't required yet.

I know it most likely would never compare to whatever Ableton/Amplitude are suppose to be doing ...but for a simple editor/recorder with ASIO support .. it fits the Mustang I/II perfectly for me.

I actually did that, and had the same problem.

I actually had to go into the sound properties on my PC (non ASIO related) and enable my mustang as an Internal AUX connector. Then they showed up fine in the programs.

Strange, "my" Audacity works (ver. 1.2.6). The only thing what's bad is latency.

Here's what a friend said about linking up to Audacity .. "turn amp on with computer on and usb connected then open audacity. Click edit-->preferences-->under devices: recording should show mustang amp and your good to go. Hit record and riff away"

Maybe ASIO support is directly supported now. I've never actually tried Audacity.. I only searched google a few months back when I first purchased the Amp for ASIO over USB recorder... and seen Audacity mentioned ...but then read I needed to compile in ASIO support... (being new to Windows OS ... I didn't attempt it) ..but maybe it was an old ad.

I think I'll try it ..everybody talks about it and for some reason ..I get weird popping sounds with Wavosaur the last time i tried... which I thought was due to my cheap Intel / Sigmatel whatever-it-is built-in soundcard.

Before I do ..does anyone know if Audacity installs any Mal-ware ? or is it a Shareware ?

Yes, it records anything after your guitar is plugged-in. It dont matter what your doing, whatever you hear coming form the Amp is what gets recorded.

This is from the Audacity Wiki:

Quote:
With the 1.3.3 release of Audacity, support for ASIO under Windows is now included for individuals who are prepared to compile Audacity from source code with the optional Steinberg ASIO SDK. This support is provided strictly on the basis that it is NON-DISTRIBUTABLE, i.e., you may NOT copy or distribute builds including ASIO support to any third parties. The build is strictly for your own personal (private or commercial) use. For the same reasons, Audacity can NOT distribute builds of Audacity including ASIO support, so please don't ask!

Audacity is open source. Assuming you download it from the source, it should be okay as far as malware.
