I was wondering if this was possible. Orange amps voice wise tend to be reminiscent of vintage tweeds(the kind of Neil Young sort of ones) with the newer ones having Marshall Plexi, Vox and Fuzz pedal like qualities.

Is it possible to get the sounds of an orange amp using what you're giving, playing with the models/cabs/pedals and bias and sag?

For example I've heard the Orange Tiny Terror is basically an AC15 with an extra gain stage. Could adding more bias and sag and changing the cab of the Vox model give you a similar sound? Or making the Plexi sound get looser?

I wish they'd add an EQ!

Try the Vox model on the Mustang. I got a fairly Orangey sound out of it earlier today. It may depend on your choice of guitar, though. Single coils (neck pickup) sounded the most convincing. Turn the noise gate on the Vox to OFF.

I tried modifying the bias and sag controls but they sounded best at the factory default position.

edit: I read over what I'd posted, and it didn't make any sense. Here's a better summary: I think that if you experiment around with the Vox and be patient, you can coax a sloppy, gritty, classic Orangey sound from it.

Here's a classic Orange OR120. Notice how sloppy and gritty it sounds? Note: the guy playing guitar is using the bridge pickup of a Les Paul, and the amp still distorts in this manner.

Yeah, that's an amazing sound.

I think the Sunn amps were kind of similar? At least from clips I heard they were. The G-Dec has those. Maybe the Mustang III will too?

I really wish there was a way to get that sound on a budget :(

Yeah, the old Sunn amps definitely are in the same ballpark. It seems like they have even more slack in the "attack".

What's funny is, back in the 90's, people were throwing away these Sunn amps because most needed resoldering/cap replacement after 20+ years. I can't count the number of garage sales I've been to, passing up the "broken" Sunn heads with beer bottle rings and cigarette burns. The retro gear market really hadn't emerged like it has now. I wish I'd had the foresight.
