Has anybody else had problems with Fender Asio drivers and Ableton and if how did you solve the problem (if you did..)? I just can't get the Ableton to record with Fender Asio driver. It just don't work and and when the Asio is selected it affects the whole program so that it either crashes or you can't play a midi track etc. I can only use Driver Type: MME/DirectX and as Audio Input Device: Mustang Amplifier DX.
Same thing with the Sonar 8.5 though I have not had time to test and configure. The only software I have been able to record with Mustang is the lightweight Audacity.
Strange because I was able to record many audio and midi tracks with much more ancient computer equipment back when the first audio version of Cakewalk was introduced over ten years ago...
(Windows XP sp3 Home Edition/ M-audio Delta Audiophile 2496).

Hey Charvette,

You mentioned it working in Audacity. Did you have your M-Audio interface connected and configured as well as the Mustang?

I'm having a similiar problem. I can get audacity lite to record the usb signal but I get a bad sound with amplitude. There seems to be some connection between the usb and amplitude because there's noise when I strum strings but it's a bad noise.

Windows vista here.

Hi johnjaypl,

To me that sounds like your buffer setting is too low. Try adjusting the buffer slider in the ASIO control panel for your input (Mustang) and output device. Also, what are your system specs? Amp modeling/virtual instrument software can be very processor intensive.

Yes, that was at least one of the problems. I had to up the buffer setting to 8K to get a good sound and then the latency was silly bad.

I've been playing around with a laptop, I guess you're saying that it doesn't have enough power for modeling. Am I actually double modeling here? The mustang models and then sends the modeled signal to be modeled again?

I don't really need to use amplitude anyway, it just seemed like a good way to start getting the guitar signal into the computer. What I'd really like to do at the moment is get the signal into the mulab application as I'd rather not have to learn ableton at the moment.

I'll press on.

Just for my own info, how much computer power do I need to run amplitude?

From the AmpliTube Fender Installation Guide. I assume your using Windows.

Minimum: Pentium 4 / Athlon XP processor, 1 GB of RAM, Windows XP / Vista or later.
Suggested: 2.33 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 2 GB of RAM, Windows XP / Vista or later.

I'm using a AMD 64 x2 mobile technology TL-58 1.9 Ghz.
3 Gb ram. Windows vista.

Should that work?

Your system definitely seems to be up to spec. I don't believe that is the problem. You may want to try contacting IK Multimedia Support. There is a web form here:

If you're getting bad sound out of Amplitube the most likely cause is your sound card. Some sound cards aren't designed to be compatible with ASIO and they simply can't keep up with the data rates. If you have Realtek on-board sound you're outa luck too ... it's not ASIO compatible. The best way to use Amplitube hassle free is with an outboard USB or Firewire audio interface.
