After setting up the audio drivers and doing all the input output asio stuff, what do i actually need to do to start recording in live? I havn't been able to find any tutorials of how to use the mustang amp together with ablton live. Also whats the difference between the live lite 8 fender edition and the normal live lite 8?

thanks in advance

To begin recording in Live you don't need anything other than your Mustang amp and guitar. The Mustang serves as the audio interface to get the audio from your guitar to your computer. If you've got the drivers set up, the only thing left to do is press record. You can find some vids that cover general use of Ableton Live on Youtube and on Ableton's site.

Ableton Live Lite 8 Fender Edition isn't functionally different than Live Lite 8 but it's licensed to ship with our amps.

Thanks for that, I've been thinking that buying the Mustang, (which comes with the ableton software) may be an inexpensive way of getting into computer recording.

Firstly, please excuse my frustration on this topic! I have my A/L/L software up and in place but, its just that it chooses when it wants to operate and (more frequently!) it chooses not to.....It will either stop recording or it will stop its playback ....I have a decent M_audio USB Mic and my speakers are fairly good as well.....I have fought and fought time and again to get it to all work in harmony( don't get me wrong; when it work, its awesome!) its enough to drive you crazy!!!! I have to go thru all my hardware and the ASIO drivers I've downloaded to get it to work , and many other things as well!!!!
If you could help would be great!

Admittedly getting the Mustang cranking into Ableton requires a few steps to master depending on your PC but I think it is work the effort. Go to YouTube or the Ableton site and see Pete Townsend using it in his home studio.

Admittedly the Ableton "community" is absolutely dominated by techno dudes .... the Ableton conversations are waaaay more useful here.

But I found a young woman who uses Ableton and she inspired me to stick with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiEHj7V0L_k

Ableton has a 500 page user manual and some may roll their eyes at that .. but this is a good thing. Reaper is like $40 but it comes with nothing!

I've been using REAPER for about 4 years now. It comes with a PDF file that you can put on a thumb drive, take to Office Depot, Staples, Kinkos ect. and for about $10.00 you can have the manual printed out in color and spiral bound with plastic colors. It's about an inch thick on on 8.5 x 11" paper and over 400 pages... Link
