My Mustang I is on the road (in a UPS truck), so I thught I get a jump start by reading the manuals and downloading FUSE. I think I understand how it works but I have some questions.

If I use FUSE to create my own setting, let's say I use a compressor set so and so and a mod set so and so, and a reverb set so and so along with an amp that's not on the front panel, let's say a Princeton. Now I save this setting in the amp so I don't need my computer to access it, right?

I'm hoping that was a yes. And now I disconnect the computer.

So now when I access my custom setting I don't have any more control of the compressor setting, right? Unless of course I hook up the computer again.

But what do the mod/effect and reverb/delay knobs do now? Do they change my preset?

I guess my question boils down to, I don't understand how custom presets made with fuse are controlled in the amp when a computer is no longer hooked up.

Any help would be appreciated,

John

Yes you can acces the custom preset without hooking it to your computer.
The effects knobs won't do anything they're turned off. UNTIL you mess around with them. When you turn the knob it turns on sorta say.

But I guess when you turn the knob all the way down, it's back to it's "original" custom preset.

(Note. Might have some things wrong. I'm getting the amp tomorrow xD)

and I also have a question (sorry for hijacking your thread).

What is Amplitube used for? It's for recording right? But with the amp and fuse can't you make presets on your amp and just record that sound? (via usb)

And does Amplitube work well with Ableton? Ableton records what you play immediatly, what does Amplitube do?
I mean, if Amplitube records live too, you have to record it in amplitube then import it into Ableton?

Once you save your preset to the amp, you can change the settings by moving the knobs; once you move the knob, you'll see the SAVE light come on. It is asking you if you want to save your changes. Hitting save changes the preset from then on.
I think if you have a compressor or other stomp box on your preset, it stays on; but anything that is controlled by the knobs can be altered, even turned completely off.
So far, I've been working with FUSE and I've been setting the mods and effects to my liking, so I haven't changed the settings on the amp.

I'm still having trouble understanding what, if any, control you have on the knobs o a stompbox effect once the computer is disconnected from the amp.

It would be nice to be able to remap some of the amp knobs to be able to control deep parameters when the computer is removed. Say, maybe for a given amp setting (one of the 24) the modulation effects knob could be a compressor level. Or a tone knob could control the tremelo rate.

I think that the moog little phatty allows this kind of remapping. It's one of the advantages of digital control.

Just a thought,

John

Ok, I hooked up my amp to Fuse this evening, and tried out a few things - here's the skinny.
You can control reverb/delay or modulation effects with the knobs; all of these effects can be altered or turned off with the knobs on the amplifier even if they are set up as part of the original preset.
The one thing I found that you cannot do is turn off or alter a distortion or compressor effect with the knobs. If it is turned on in the preset, it stays on.
I think this is the answer you were looking for - at least I hope I answered your question.

Thanks Charles, that answers my question.
