I'm leaning towards getting a Mustang II, however if there was a Mustang III released with more amp models, an effects loop and speaker out that would be really nice. I would pay another $100 for that easy. I'm reluctant to commit because on the website it says -

Quote:
LOUD
Mustang I and II sound great at any volume, and although they’re the smallest members of the family, their closed-back cabinets and Fender Special Design speakers pump serious volume.

However I would like it to be the same physically as the Mustang II in so far as it can, just be slightly louder and have more bells and whistles. The light weight is the appeal of a modeler vs. a tube rig. A 2x12 would be too large for me, if a 2x8 would offer the same low end as a 1x12 it could be nice for stereo effects though, a 2x10 may not be too bad if it was compact enough.

I'm sure everyone has their own amp models they'd like to see, here are mine:

- Orange OR120
- Any old Ampeg, or one of the Ampeg bass amps guitarists use(like some of the SVT series)
- Hiwatt DR series amp

One or more of the following for high gain(I'm not too big a fan of the fizzy "dual rec" sound):

- Marshall JCM2000
- Soldano SLO or Peavey 6505
- A "German" amp (Engl/Bogner/Framus/Diezel) for high gain

If the amp had those, it would be complete to me!

Ah. I'm going to tidy up my place, so I'll have room for a new amp soon enough, so I need to decide soon... if there's not gonna be a bigger one...

Appears to be a III and IV on the way. Expect 75-100w and more features, and more money.

An extra $100 for an amp I know i can gig with, maybe a mids knob on the amp would be great.

Although I really don't need anything any bigger or more powerful than the Mustang II, I have to admit I would have waited to get a "III or IV", especially if it had more sounds and features.
A 2/10" cabinet would be nice!

As far as loudness goes, I got the Mustang 1 and it's rocking my world. For being in an apartment, it's absolutely perfect. This cabinet is wonderfully designed and I get all the bass response I want and can play around all night in 900 square feet. An eight-inch speaker has never sounded so deep and resonant... good job on the cabinet, Fender.

My other amp is a Traynor YCV-40 and it's hard to get a volume setting below 1... and 1 is way, way too loud to play after 8 pm. This 'Stang has got me non-stop woodshedding again.

The Mustang appears to be designed for two distinct markets who share some characteristics. It's a recording tool and a learning/experimentation tool. I love the way my little amp sounds.
