I went up to buy a VT30 or VT50 and after trying them out I plugged into the
Mustang II ... it was like night and day .. Mustang was brighter, punchier and more responsive with massive bottom-end. I bought it on the spot and love
the amazing endless sounds its producing. Its the ONLY AMP I REALLY look forward to plugging into now.

I have a Palomino V16 Tube AMP I used for SRV tones but now I'm falling in love with the SS 60's Sparkle tube tones the MS II does. Endless possibilities.

That's the thing I love about the Mustang. Endless possibilities. I was even able to get a setting on mine that sounds, almost, like my Traynor YCV-40. For when I want to play that amp, but don't want to wake the neighbors, I have a good facsimile.

The tonal subtleties of the Mustang, via the Fuse software, are unbeatable. It's amazing. (Voted Mustang, obviously)

Yeah, that's a nice looking AMP ... I know what you mean ... I'm gonna get
rid of my Palomino and small Marshall AMPs here. Mustang weighs less than
them both and what else freaks me out ..is i can get feedback at super low volume (1 watt possibly) in the apartment w/o bugging the neighbors using the Metal 2000 or Sonic sounds ... its like heaven :o) ....... lol

Have fun w/ it. :D

I have been shopping modeling amps for a while now and I'm buying on the first of December.

I don't want to do endless tweaking and I'm not searching for "my tone".

I want to be able to easily obtain the presets for the famous player's tone I'm trying to emulate, download it, save it to the amp, and play.

The amps I researched were...

Peavey vypyr

Line 6 Spider IV

VOX XT+

Fender Mustang

The results were...

The line 6 spider IV was cut when I found out the ability to save presets to the amp was only possible with the 75W and above models and even then requires the footswitch. More expensive and more expensive? No thanks.

The Vox VT+ was cut because there is no ability to download presets to the amp at all.

Same goes for the Peavey Vypyr.

All that being said Peavey was my first choice until I found the Mustang.

The Mustang is severely under promoted. I had no idea it even existed until after a long search. After finding this video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myjzJVCK ... re=related

Then reading this...

http://www.fender.com/support/article.php?kb_id=158

I was sold.

I have heard rumors of Mustang models III, IV, and V coming out soon. Allegedly these would be the same functionally but would be higher wattage combos and the V would be a head only. More suited for performing. There will have to be a better footswitch for actual gigging.

All that being said if the Peavey vypyr had the same ability as the Line 6 or Fender for copying presets to the amp and editing I would buy that.

Maybe it's the flashy LEDs on the dials. That Peavey Christmas tree look is cool!

The Peaveys have had LOTS of quality issues since they were released about a year ago, and I haven't heard that they've really been addressed. I tried one, but couldn't get a straight amp model out of it. For some reason, the delay was always on, even when the store owner tried to disable it! A buddy of mine bought one, and traded it for a Vox AD100VT, because he couldn't do what he wanted without the (expensive) pedal.

I'm happy with my G-DEC 3! But if I wanted similar quality at a lower price, minus the ability to have backing tracks and limitless presets on an SD card, I'd opt for a Mustang II.

Have fun!
Bob

That's funny, I had the exact same delay issue with the vypyr I played at the store but was able to figure it out.

I had no idea about the quality issues. Is it something inside the amp? I have heard that blue marvel speaker in it is a quality product.

Since I mentioned the "Christmas lights" on the dials it occurs to me now that if the LEDs or whatever makes them light up burn out you won't be able to tell what any of the settings are.

Looks cool now but a few years down the road? Probably not such a good design.

I was considering a G-DEC 3 at the same time as the Mustang but as you said I didn't need the backing tracks and some of the other features so the Mustang is perfect for me. I really only need a few presets.

Maiden, Halen, Priest, Rhoads. That early/mid 80's metal stuff.

Maybe someday I'll graduate to the G-DEC. Of course, since my playing is so bad by then they will probably be up to the G-DEC 10 or 20!
