I own a mustang IV v1 and use this for band practice from time to time. I was having a difficult time dialing in a standard chorus sound.

I have no clue what the delay or other settings do. Also I notice the normal settings for rate and depth needed to be set very low to sound like a standard chorus.

Could someone please help me to understand the settings and suggest some parameter values or ranges that would yield a lush 80s or 90s chorus sound.

One of the best Chorus effects is Cakewalk Z3ta+
6 voice chorus, part of a multi-effct vst plugin.

If Mustang Fuse editor lets you put a chorus
before the amp, and one after the amp (presented as a rack),
that will diversify the voice count. A pitch-shifter
can also help build the voice count.

You'll want low levels of depth, and slow speed
on the chorus itself, with mild distortion/saturation
on the amp, perhaps some faint digital delay,
and a decent reverb.
The overall EQ will also be important. You want
a lot of guitar strings being heard just slightly
out of tune, and without existing vibrato
being in perfectly in sync, which would be more
tremolo territory.

This video is examples of the knobs in Cubase Chorus,
which you can impose on available Mustang knobs.

At some point it comes down to what your ears hear and we can't help with that. But here is a little "trick" every guitar player should know:

With any decent effects pedal, if you put all the dials up half way (12 noon) it should sound like something. Try that and see if it happens to be what you're looking for.
