Hi,

I have a Mustang III (100w) and it won't boot.
It displays "Mustang 2012" when powered on and goes no further.
The aux in works so the problem is the firmware or digital hardware.
If you try and update the firmware by powering on with the data wheel pressed the "Save" light flashes red as per the manual but it won't communicate with the PC/Fuse.
As I haven't ever connected the amp to the PC before with Fuse, I don't know if it's the Fuse software or the amplifier USB port.
Any ideas of what to try.
Thanks

you could try:

The Fender Mustang amp feature a Preset Restore function that can be used to restore all Preset data back to factory settings. To access this feature, turn off the amp, then turn the amp back on while holding the Exit button. The amp will briefly light both the Save and Exit buttons. Once they are no longer lit, the restore is complete. Please be sure to back up any data (custom Presets) that you have created prior to performing this operation as all old data will be overwritten with the Restore.

Thanks for the reply
I have tried that procedure with no success.
The display just locks at the boot screen “Mustang 2012”
The only thing that seems to follow the manual is when you power up holding the data wheel down and the red save light comes on.
This tells me that some part of the internal software is working.
I need to run fuse on another pc and see if I can load the firmware.

Thanks agsin

All good,
The DSP board has some bad connections.
It was removed and header pins cleaned and reinserted and it worked again.
Some of the solder joints on the pins were touched up as well.
Really weird that the system would half boot up.
Hope this helps someone with the same issue.
