Ok, so I'm starting to understand Fuse better now, but I notice that there are pre fx and post fx settings on the presets for my Mustang 1 V2. Both built in ones and the community ones. What are the differences if a similar fx is available both sides of the amplifier?

A secondary question is do the FX's work better with higher volume on the guitar and lower on the amp, or vice versa?

It's usually something like compressors, overdrives, are usually in the signal path before the amp.

delays, modulations, (things that are more common in an FX loop) would go after.

But that said, the real test is what you hear, and what sounds best.

A secondary question is do the FX's work better with higher volume on the guitar and lower on the amp, or vice versa?

5 guys will give you 5 different answers..

the way I'd advise if your just playing around in your house/bedroom, keep the guitar volume up, and adjust the amp volume to what is suitable for your environment.

if you're jamming, or using it live, then you want to set your amp for max vol to get enough push for solos then dial the guitar back as you transition from lead back to rythm. you can also use one of the on board stomp boxes to give you some boost, or an adjacent preset for a lead boost that's louder than the one used for rythm. then it's a matter of up one preset for boost, back down one preset for rythm.

I'm not very familiar with the Mustang 1, so I'm not up on what options are on hand when using the foot switch.

the MIII and up have the ability to use both a 2 button and 4 button foot swithc (or both) which really helps with switching / voicing options

I agree about amp/guitar volume. You need to experiment and see what you like. Lots of successful players do it differently.

Think of POST effects as your "effects loop". It's just a virtual effects loop instead of a physical one. Read up on which effects typically go in the effects loop and which typically are in front of the amp input. Try it that way first and change it if you're not getting what you're looking for.

Thanks guys. I'll press on experimenting with all this stuff. A lot to learn for a guy that's usually had a straight clean amp and no effects except the tremolo and spring reverbs.

Definitely a leap from where you're used to dwelling.

The learning curve is worth the time invested!

Good luck, we'll all be here if you have more questions.
