I snagged an open box mustang II v2 amp at an auction for $50. Took it home turned it on, it had sound for 2 seconds then no sound. Turn it off & back on, same thing. No crackling sound or fuzz. The sound quickly tapers into nothing. Any ideas? The only visible issue I see is the headphone jack is broken. It was barely noticable. The plastic casing around the HP input was missing.

Hello !
If you have a multimeter, measure it! If not, I would buy one at your grocery store. (Not in the garage.)
Afterwards: Write to Fender for the wiring diagram! I'm not authorized by Fender to give you that.

Hi. A common problem with the Mustang II is that the smaller transformer that's probably part of the AC rectifier circuit (I didn't read the board diagram) has a pin that's insufficiently soldered to the printed board. Prolonged use of the amp at high volume in a hot environment (28-40 deg celsius) will cause one of the secondary transformer pins to heat to the point of frying the small footprint it has via the solder unto the board. Carefully cleaning the old solder and scraping the urethane off the board to allow for a larger solder footprint, and then re-soldering the prepared area will permanently correct this problem. Hundreds of Mustang II amps have exactly this problem. Spread the word. Hope this helps.
