Hi guys,

I have recently bought a Jackson guitar with EMG pickups. I tried it at the store on a mustang III, it sounded good. Same thing on my practice amp at home(a 100$ marshall) But when I tried it on my Mustang V, it just felt awful.

My last guitar was also a Jackson, but with passive pickups and I was almost exlusively playing on the presetted distortion on the amp called "puppet master"(high bass and treble, low mid). But with that distortion on my new guitar, the mid ouput was extremely loud whereas the lows and high were strangely not loud at all. And also, it almost felt like there was no gain with that distortion : with my old guitar, that distortion was warm and heavy, but now it sounds more like a crunch.

I have problem with my clean as well but in the sense that it has almost no power, I can barely be heard when I'm playing with my band, whitch is strange since active pickups are supposed to offer more output, or so they say.

I'm not very knowledgeable in terms of settings and I have not found any useful informations on the web related to my problem. I hope I didn't screw up with the purchase of that guitar.

Hello!
What if the new guitars were replaced instead of active pickups, the usual passive pickups?
Hi

The hotter the pickup, usually the least pleasing the tone.

I've had guitars with active pickups before, the be very honest, no matter how good they played, the Active Pickups just never did it for me.

Not always.
Active pickups aren't always a replacement for an overdrive pedal. A lot of active systems are not truly high-gain, but are rather designed to produce cut AND boost in the tone circuit, rather than only cut, which is all a passive system can do.

ghost of strings. I came to post the exact same thing. Check that 9 volter! That is what it sounds like to me. Bad battery.
