without more info on your gear, connections and computer, you should
make sure all numeric audio settings system wide, and in your
chosen software, are uniform,
no mixes of 44100/48000 etc, make sure you're offline,
and have bare minimum apps running.

I think there is a 'usb gain' setting in Fuse, or windows, that will
boost the usb output levels. Make sure your guitar knobs are around '7'
to limit noise, and use pickup selection that serves the sound you desire.

The headphone output works with the amp master volume,
so while usb recording gets tweaked, try recording from the
headphone jack, it's slightly noisier, but in some styles, the amps
noise obscures it. Ask about usb guitar recording at the reaper forum,
after a good google search of the same, should be some good info!
Cheers

+1 to adjusting the USB Gain. Digital distortion is an ugly thing. So is a weak digital signal (full of artifacts). Experiment until you get the USB gain right. Are you recording more than one track?

Make ensure a high-quality product by starting with a high-quality recording, reduce background noise during mastering in audacity software, and set the final track's audio quality when saving the track.
