I come back every year at this time with a review of my original mustang IV that was first released back in 2011.

Still in love with this amp and favorite above all others! My most recent discovery for my favorite amp set up with this amp, is pairing the 59 Bassman with the 65 twin cab and the 65 deluxe reverb with a 59 Bassman cab. Both of these amp combinations are giving me everything I want with a big Big sound in everything that I love to play... 50s 60s 70s pop rock ‘n’ roll classic rock and classic country.

Zero issues with this amp after seven years so I’m just going to keep on rockin and hope for the best !!!!!

I guess Arjay was wrong (shocker!). Someone should have taken that bet. I guarantee you'll get one more year out of that amp.

Let's call it eight years.

Six years with the 2012 Mustang IV for me. Earlier on I had some intermittent issues with volume not following correctly (a drop until minimal knob movement kicked the next selected preset volume in) with a change of presets; but, that was so seldom that it was written off as a possible software issue or whatever (even after an original reset), and it has not returned for some time so difficult troubleshooting was put on the back burner unless it happens again. Once the preset volume is manually set it remains at that level. This makes it very usable for home or occasional use, but with mine, I’m not sure if I would trust it with a gig. I dunno . . . it’s a toss up.

Yet, for the most, part I am still loving this amp and it’s features (including the lesser weight). I find N3s take a little edge off of the digital amp playback and that is a good thing.

It’s not perfect and understandably not a valve amp with, perhaps, better speakers, but it is incredible for what it is. Aside from the questionable volume issue, I have no doubt the value has given me my money’s worth and more. I’ll be keeping it. :D

I wound up selling my IV just before the holidays. It was mint too... moved it to help with the funds for a new acoustic

The guy who has it now, was thrilled. Made almost all my $ back too. Apparently he didn't like the GTs at all. Sat down with the IV for a few minutes, and looks at me and said "Sold!"

I still have my III v1, no plans to move it. Nice little amp for sure.

yep, not selling mine either. I have moved on to a vintage Fender amp, but the Mustang III makes a perfect companion I can toss in the trunk as a backup.

Hi,

It's been a couple of years with my III and about 6 months with my IV. I absolutely love these amps. The other guitar player in my band can't believe how good my IV sounds at rehearsals. It still floors me too. I can't wait to try it at a gig.

There is only one issue that bothers me but it is minor since I don't use the effects loop other that for practice. I use a Boss RC-2 in the effects loop and as soon as I plug a cord into the return it make a very noticeable change in the overall volume and a lot of the "oomph" for lack of a better word. Basically it is a huge tone suck. I tried just plugging a cable in without it connected to the pedal and it does the same thing. I thought maybe it was just the fact I was using a mono effect in the stereo loop of the IV but it does the same thing in the III. I have both the amps set to looper mode. Has anyone else experienced this?

Interesting topic - I decided to take up guitar last year and got a Yamaha Pacifica and Vox Valvetronix to get started. The Pacifica was OK but the neck felt 'fat' so did my research and purchased a Squier Stratocaster CV 60s - ooohhh I do love that guitar!
Decided the CV deserved something better so took to the Fender forums and finally decided the Mustang IV v2 was the way to go - found one 150 mile away and picked it up a week or so back - what a fabulous pairing! Here's me, a green beginner just getting over 12 bar blues scales and every time I pick that guitar up and switch that amp on I feel like in heaven :-)

Rangioran - Welcome to the Mustang club. If you're looking for new presets go to fuse.fender.com and search for presets by FenderStratocasterLover. Great presets. I use about 5 or 6 of them. Also, intheblues has some great highly rated ones.

I've had my Mustang II v.1 since 2011 and my Mustang V v.1 half-stack since 2012. The M5 is still my go-to amp for noodling around.

And oh yes, if people here haven't forgotten... I wrote the damned book on those V.1 amps. LOL I just...never come around anymore. Fender wrote us Mustang-lovers off pretty much when they released the bastard step-child, the GT series. LOL Nevermind. I'm not giving the GT amps a fair shot, as I don't have money to buy one and go through it with a fine-toothed comb.

The only way the GT series makes sense for me is if it never leaves the house. As far as I know, there is still absolutely no way to back up your presets on a GT amp.

Now picture yourself setting up at a gig for soundcheck (maybe other acts are waiting to soundcheck next, and you have limited time) to find out all your presets were wiped. Thanks but no thanks.
