OK so I'm a total newb and don't understand electronics well. I recently acquired a Mustang I V2 that I'm quite pleased with. Since my playing sucks, LOL, out of respect for my family I normally keep volume quite low, master volume 2. Well finally had house to self and turned it up to a master volume 5, amp vol around ten and max volume on guitar. This was pretty damm loud, in fact too loud for me, especially sitting right next to it. So my question is how much can this amp handle? Can I play it with the master at 10, a ton of gain and volume on the settings plus max on my guitar? intuitively that seems bad for the speaker so hope you folks can give me some kind of guidance on what this amp can handle.

personally, there's nothing to gain (no pun intended) from running your amp on 10, with gobs of gain.

the speaker can probably deal with for a while, eventually tho,, it's probably gonna die.. the v1s do not come stock with a heavy duty spearker,, but at the end of the day... it's probably just not gonna sound good pushed to the wall like that. Solid State amps tend to get pretty shrill and brittle sounding when you dime them.

I'd just find a good solid volume that suits the room you're in, and work from there. I've been playing for about 50 years, and tbh.. not sure why you even want to use continually that much volume... but to each his own....

Hey, thanks for your response. I guess I wasn't clear in my original post but it's not that I want to play it super loud. With the master at 5 it was too loud for me. With that said, I was still curious to find out what this amp can realistically handle and hopefully hear back from other users about their experience.

ok I see. I don't think running your amp at that setting will do any damage at all.

I have a III and a IV (both version 1 amps) and they are different animals entirely when you set the master vol around 5ish.

I love the III and will hang onto that for ever, but I find that I just don't use the IV that much, considering selling it.. it's mint too.. not a lot of use..

real nice amps tho.

Hi there, I can't really say for sure but I can definitely tell you the situations that I have successfully used this amp.

1. Battle of the Band. The amp was mic'ed and ran the signal to the PA system. The sound guy was more than happy to do this as there is a lot less mic bleed in other mics and makes it easier for him to mix properly. Also won 1st place. Im not a talented guy but did went against people who are more classically musically trained so its worth mentioning that the tone is good enough that when I fake my performances, the audience believed that Im a better musician. Im really not haha)
2. A full band but with electronic drums. (Dry vocals with no PA support, e-drum amp, bass amp. Unlike tube amps that needs to be cranked to sound good, the mustang shines at low volume)
3. Small restaurants/coffee shops (20-50 people). These are places that are too small for a full drumset and are usually more appropriate for blues, acoustic or acapella (no stage. PA for vocals/cajon/bass di only)

This was all done on my Fender Mustang 1 v.1 that I have owned for 7 years ? Its not made of metal or anything but if youre not doing anything crazy like kicking it just for fun/ do a drop test on it, its gonna very well last. And I live in Malaysia (its VERY humid here). Spent RM450(equivalent to 110$ today) and it was worth every single cent !
