You can only compare tone against a third Mustang IV since the two you own match. The power amp sections of the III and IV are wired differently, the IV has two power amps with lower outputs than the one bridged amp in the III, and the 2x12 cabinet vs 1x12 might also affect the tone. Comparing the III to 2 IVs and saying the III and IV sound different is exactly what I would expect. It sounds to me like nothing is wrong with your two IVs until you verify another IV has that treble you're hearing from the Mustang III. I suggest you change your high end settings to sound like the MIII and keep a Fuse file for the IVs and another for the MIII. Now I have to pre-empt the guy who's going to say " The schematic shows power amp circuit board is the same in Mustang III, IV, and V". Yes, it's the same circuit board but the parts they insert in it are different for each model and that board has several built-in wiring options so that it'll work and sound different depending on the Mustang model it was configured for. Good Luck, hope you confirm that everything is working and you just need to tweak some settings.

Thanks to all for the suggestions....they all make sense and have their place. I certainly have tried them all....no, my hearing isn't off....no, there is no difference in the headphones......no, i used the original amp settings and only accessed Fuse to try and remedy w/o any success.....yes, i did compare each speaker from/to the III and it confirms what I am experiencing ( so it's not me)......yes, I did replace the speakers with the exact speaker......no, there was no change.....
For all of you guys who have the III, IV or V....go to setting 47 (Gomez Clean) and listen to the high end jangle of that setting......imagine that gone....no more jangle....you will completely understand what I mean .....it also affects other presets as well, it's just that I use 47 as my main go to .........
