Hi folks,
I just bought a used MIII v1. It was a good deal (ended up paying ~65 USD).
When I came to pick it up, the seller told me he had experienced some issues when playing the amp live. When setting to a certain present according to their playlist (after 5 -20 min) it would suddenly change the setting (I assume he meant different present). He described it to me like this: when using the util button and then turning the wheel he would start playing in that setting and after a while the playing would suddenly be much louder. He also said the problem does not occur when making the change and then using one of the other wheels (Gain, Vol, Treble etc.).

I finally got if for half price, but we agreed I can test it for a litte. I am wanting to play only for home use - so I thought it was a fair deal. I now played around with settings a bit and didn't experience any problems. I am only a beginner though, and I played only room volume.
I managed to install FUSE on my machine and I am amazed by all the options.
The amp seems to have firmware 1.10 installed already. Finally, I found this forum and read quiet a bit.
Now I am wondering if the "small" bug might eventually turn out to something bigger which may make me regret my buy later (total hardware failure). I also read FUSE will more or less die.

My next step would be to reset to factory setting and re-install same firmware.
However I wanted to ask first if any more-experienced users may know more about this described issue. I could't find any problems that sounded like described to me in any forums.
Other advice welcome as well.

Thanks a lot in advance.

My guess is that the encoder wheel is flaky. It may, or may not, get worse. But even if it totally dies in a year, you'll have gotten a year's use out of it, and essentially will have gotten a Celestion 12" for $65. It sounds like a win-win, no matter if the amp croaks or not.

I have the same if the USB cable is in use.
No USB cable, no change of presets or sounds (I think the amp is just changing a setting adding reverb or delay or something).

So the amp might get a command by USB to do something and reacts on it, regardless if fuse is running or not.

You seem to be on the right track. Factory reset, install the LATEST firmware update for the model, turn it off, unplug it, wait a couple of minutes, plug it in, turn it on and retest.

A can of compressed air or rubbing alcohol and Q-tips sometimes works wonders as well, if the amp was kept in a dusty environment.
