Some hints to get the max out of your guitar and amp.

Listen to Larry Carlton, the master of this technique:

“Emotions wound us so”, on “Last Nite”, 1987

A transcription of this album is available.

Guitar:
What happens is, you pick a note and it flips to it’s (overtone) octave instantly, an astonishingly beautiful sound.

What you need is a 3-D bridge, a well-adjusted truss-rod and patience.
If you are not sure how to accomplish this let a technician do it for you,
ask specifically for intonation.
You also might have to repeat this adjustment more than once a year,
because your guitar’s neck picks up humidity,
thus changing proportions.

Amp:
A sweet spot has nothing to do with volume, though, every amp reacts different, so take your time for experimentation.

Potentiometers are substractive, now watch this vid:

You're welcome, however, this is only the beginning...

As you can see (hear) in these vids, LC is only scratching the surface, why, 'cause his 335 does not have a 3-D bridge.

On the other hand, the equipment shown here is easily worth
the purchase price of an appartment.
The mystery of the Dumble Overdrive !?!

The sound I'm referring to is all about EQing !
So take your time, follow the lead and save all
found presets for further reference.

Many of them so-called experts accused Miles Davis
being ignorant to the audience showing his back only
or playing inside monitors - in fact, he conducted the band
and, as he has said: "I'm looking for the small tone"

What really happens if you employ these techniques:
You are changing a chord form into an inversion.

Lenny Breau brought this to perfection

And, as you might have guessed, it is bebop
