Apologies for first post being a new topic, seems a bit rude,
but time is short, and the prospect of new Mustangs
yanked the lurker t-shirt right off my back, so here I sit
in pajama bottoms next to my faithful old V1...

Over the years, I've found Mustang support to be OK,
but a bit minimal, like the Mustangs were an afterthought,
tolerated, rather than a high priority.
I really really hope that this time around,
they will hire or appoint someone who loves these amps
even more than the customers do, to guide and energize
this forum. Someone who educates and sells with passion,
rather than 'moderating' in some spare moments.

In my few dealings with Fender staff, I have always
found them to be the sort who would make good neighbors,
but maybe not be high on a dating list, maybe not the
first call made for a tailgating party. But competition
is fierce, and will need a good whuppin'. So a hot date, and a party,
it should be.

I hope to get one the the first new low-end models
in my hometown! I've got just enough quarters in the coffee can!

Yes, you're totally right.
There used to be someone from Fender who would chip in - but that's maybe 4 years ago.
Maybe they got embarassed at the lack of enthusiasm from head office.

They kept saying "keep the feedback coming" - but then ignored everything apart from the fizz issue - so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I remember him. It was good to have an official Fender voice here, and someone who could find answers to various questions. It's hard to say what happened. Maybe he left Fender. Maybe corporate decided that there was some liability to having him here. Maybe it was taking too much time away from his real duties.

Unfortunately thats just part of the evolution of business in todays world. years ago products were supported infinitely more but prices were much higher and many products were made in the USA. Costs to produce were higher and profits lower. Today it's evolved more and more because of the extreme competition forcing all companies to produce a lot of cheap products built overseas with very small profit margins and very high volumes to make up for that. It's a new world where cost cutting as much as possible is the rule, and an employee on this forum just isn't a necessity to fender and just another way of cost cutting to stay in business given the current business model they are forced into by today's extreme competition.

If it were viable for them fender would. But fender is like any other big business today and use marketing plans that ignore the customer when it comes to things like this that will not cut into their sales enough to affect the bottom line. That's just the way of the world today. Lowest possible overhead and high volume cheap products. No doubt there are many many more areas where they could benefit by hiring people such as a forum rep, but added up it would cause them to lose the fine edge they need to compete. Business today is nothing like it was when i was a kid many years ago. In some ways it's better, in some not so much. Gotta take the bad with the good. Remember when you could call a service company like the phone company for support and be connected to a rep immediately who spoke your language clearly and was intelligent enough to actually help? Today: 20 minutes of automated questions to get you to the proper department, then a rep from another country with a accent so thick you are constantly saying "what?" and can't understand what he's saying as far as the words or the content. Thats what it takes today to give you the products and services you want. but it's our own faults for voting with our wallets. If we all wanted a pro version of the mustang and would be happy to pay 3 times the price i assure you there would be a rep on the forum waiting to help you !

Sorry this turned into a rant, but thats just the sad truth. Theres just no service anymore today, but thats what we asked for by voting with our wallets.

Lets assume Fender hires smart, positive, motivated people.

O_n_e of them should be famliar with the specs, documentation,
and capabilities of each new Mustang model, and simply get a notification
when new forum posts and topics appear, and chime in as needed to clarify
or enhance info and opinions from Fenders point of view.

Then put all Mustang related docs and details alphabetized under o_n_e link.

IK Multimedia have had a spear-catcher for years, who keeps up with
the bigger public gear forums, and acts as a go-between for customers
and potential customers on a regular basis. If IK can, certainly Fender can.

Many businesses hire social-media mavens to interact at facebook twitter,
snap this & that etc, because it's cost effective to put out fires,
weed the garden, and water the lawn.
Cheers

Internship for some guitarist getting his masters in marketing would do it and not cost Fender a dime.
