Hello,
I'm considering buying a used Mustang V (v.2) in excellent cond. from a friend, but I have read in different places that the unit can be employed as an amp, or you have to connect speakers to the amp head. What is the case? I figured someone on this board might know. Thanks, Santino

The Mustang V v.2 head may be used without Speakers connected.

To hear anything without connecting a cab, you would need to use FX Sends, XLR Outs, Headphone Out, or the USB Out with appropriate software.

Hi. Fender sell a special cab for the V, you will find lots of used ones
in the guitar-center used category, 4 12's as I recall,
and I think the GC search engine now lists
available used gear as part of general results.
ebay dealers usually have them.

Using other cabs will require matching ohms to the Mustang V output,
to protect the amp circuitry. Quick google search, or forum search,
or downloaded manual etc, should help.
Cheers
