My Mustang III v2 amp is only a couple weeks old. I too was tempted to update "just in case" but it works perfectly and I was able to hold myself back with the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" outlook. Last I heard was that there has been no firmware updates for years...
Not sure how accurate that is. Too bad there is no real way to actually see what firmware version is currently on your Mustang (that I have been able to find).

Did you figure out the problem by now?

one thing you have to understand 1st:
This is a completely new concept,
modeling amps.
putting a computer in an amp to control its functions.
I got the picture from my other question,
this firmware update may not apply to your amp ?
So it loads forever without any result.

I got a feeling even the guys/gals at Fender do not have a clear understanding what may be possible with such a machine.

So would'nt it be nice, we start a discussion in this community what we want in this amp ?
Engineers then might realize it ?
As far as I can see, it is now a matter of programming,
not some soldering.
I do not know how to do that, but I am listening

The Mustang III/IV/V have an LCD Display.

To see the firmware version, press the Util Button 10x.
The firmware has not been revised since 2014.
The latest version is still 2.2.

If your Mustang has an older firmware version, you must download the current firmware from Fender's website before you use Fender FUSE softwre to install the latest firmware. If you do not, FUSE will instead, install its older internal version of firmware! The available version of FUSE is older than the Firmware that you download! During the install process you must direct FUSE to install the newer Firmware.

I indeed noticed my new Mustang IV V.2 has a lcd display.
What a stupid name for a sound machine anyway.

I tried for the 3rd time to upgrade, but no longer.
The version stays at 2.1 and so I am happy with it now.
My mac with Sierra is enough of a nervous breakdown for me.

I used to live with a female engineer for 5 years,
she gave me the creeps.
It is always the same configuration, artists and engineers
simply do not share the same language.

"Off topic. I work with computers for money. I work with guitar amps for fun. When I see Firmware and Guitar amp in the same sentence I die a little bit inside"

Thats all folks, I grab my guitar and write a song

oh wow, I'm the opposite. I'm an IT Systems Admin and the idea of a computerized amp is pretty darn cool IMO!

Oh yes, I do get the point, let me explain:

The problems occurring in writing a manual of any kind
have been thoroughly described in:

Robert M. Pirsig:
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (1974)

Any aspiring artist should be aware of this book, seriously.

On the other hand, and this is not a platform war,
however, all IT stuff is based on the binary system 0/1, on or off,
contrary to an analog tube amp, you can doubt that too,
but it seems it is just a matter of perception.
You may accept, to every stupid question there is a snappy answer,
or you may not.
Your dog listens to sounds and also smells per fume for miles,
something you will never be capable of.

Thus, according to Platon's cave equation, think "Matrix", the movies,
there is absolutely no way to prove if we are in or out of the cave.
In philosophy, this is called a "dilemma".
I will never be sure if what I am thinking is right or wrong.

There is a fantastic movie circulating how Deep Purple
composed their 20th studio album.

So, in my book, evolution is the name of the game

To make things clear, this was just a quote I found on the web.

Your jazz sound is fine, but with too many highs.

Music ist rhythm 1st and melody
