Using Audacity through the Internal Aux Jack. It continually drops out. Within the recording device the level is muted every time. I will unmute start up a session and 30 seconds later or so it drops out again. I tried disabling all other recording devices, nada. I uninstalled Fuse and reinstalled, nada.

It actually drops out in Cubase 8.5 also, but not quite as quick.
Win 10 64 Pro, i5-46990CPU 3.5ghz, 32g ram.

Any ideas?

Just to make sure I understand your setup ...

You have stereo output from your computer sound card going into the Mustang amp aux? So you want to hear the recording session coming out of the amp, including all the other tracks?

No. USB to the Mustang. This creates a device in Windows 10 recording devices called "Internal Aux Jack". The properties of this device has 4 tabs, General, Listen, Levels, Advanced. On the Levels tab you can set the default Main Volume of the device, Balance and the ability to Mute.

If I unplug the USB to the Mustang and reboot, then plug the USB to the Mustang back in this Level tab will be muted. I turn on the Mute button (now not muted) and turn up the volume to 80.

Run Audacity. Start a recording. Most of the time 30 sec to 1 minute in the recording the Level will mute stopping the signal from the Mustang to the computer.

I am not using headphone out to an input of the sound card.

In fact, I just tested disabling the sound card in BIOS and trying this again. The same result, the Internal Aux Jack property level on the computer mutes.

Thanks for responding.

ok now I understand. Well I haven't tried recording on Windows 10 so haven't hit this issue. Sounds like more of a Windows problem than anything but I don't know the solution. Is it a laptop? Maybe it's a power-save feature kicking in?

No, tower. I agree, I think it's a software issue somewhere and most likely related to Windows. Same old story.

I would get it working then wiggle the plug at the amp end and see if that causes it to drop out. Those plugs and jacks are extremely fragile and prone to failure and that should tell you. You could also pull it slightly to one side and hold pressure on it and see if it stays on. If not put pressure in the other direction and see. If it does stay on in either direction it's a plug or jack issue. Unfortunately the jack is the more likely issue of the 2, but you could try a new cable and see if it's that. You could also update the firmware or downgrade it to 2.1 then back to 2.2. Also could reinitialize it after saving your presets and see if that does it. But i'd bet it's a hardware issue. If it's the jack's solder connections to a circuit board, it may be possible to access the solder points and reflow them with a small iron tip if you know what you're doing.

oczad, O.P. said the connection drops more quickly when using Audacity than it does when using Cubase. I can't think of any logical reason the jack on the amp would behave differently depending on what software is running on the computer at a given time.
