I have a Mustang 4 that is acting weird. After playing on a preset for a minute or so, the SAVE Button turns Red, the sound cuts down, and an asterisk appears before the presets name. Anyone know what this is?

The symptoms you are depicting indicate that the amp's firmware sensed a change to a parameter of the currently selected Preset.

If this did not happen as a result of you touching anything on the amp, footswitch, FUSE running on your connected computer, or REMUDA on your connected Android device, it is certainly odd behavior.

If you have the technical skills you may want to open and clean the contacts of the various ribbon cable connections and the Data Wheel encoder, so that you can be sure they didn't false. Otherwise, get in contact with Fender Customer Service for Warranty Tech Support.

Before you go cutting your hair with hedge-clippers ....

1. Unplug ALL PEDALS including the Mustang's own pedals. Make your signal chain: Guitar ==> Amp and that's it.

2. Turn the amp off and press each button on the amp multiple times quickly to dislodge dust/debris that might be causing them to stick.

3. Turn the Data Wheel several revolutions and press the data wheel button several times.

4. If possible, also use some compressed air to clean around the buttons.

Turn the amp back on and try it again. Same issue? Take it in for service.
