My Mustang V, a great amp head, is down because the preamp board has failed. I tested the power amp by wiring into cn403 and it works fine. Contacted Fender and they don't have boards for "Chinese" amps. Anyone know where I can find a replacement board? I have googled till my fingers hurt and can't find one.

I don't understand why Fender chosen not to support their products. The Mustang V is still being sold new by big retailers, spare parts should be available. Are Mustangs like disposable amplifiers or what?

I'm sorry for you .
$275 us for a 150 watts head as see on store ! You have for the money you pay for. :(
You can't buy a good 20 watts amps for this price.

If board was available it cost you at least half price of the amp and nobody will buy them. So why Fender will keep them in stock ?

Same story for all electronic stuff today, not only Fender

IMO Fender ( same from other amps builder ) had never sold electronics board since the beginning. From '50 area Tweed to '60 Blackface to '70 Silverface...eyelet board where not available from Fender.

So, has the warranty expired on your head? (5 years...)

If you're still under warranty, they SHOULD replace it... (they must be considering these amps disposable after the warranty period expires.)

As for fender and spare parts for their amps, I found the same problem with an Acoustasonic JR DSP amp.
I needed to replace the peizo, but the part was simply not available. I was lucky though as, I found a similar part from partsexpress.com but the lens would require relocating the mounting hole. However the actual driver, (3 small screws remove it from the lens, was a perfect fit for the lens Fender used.

The replacement part was $3.00

that seems to be the case. As stratele52 said, when the replacement part gets up around 50% of the original purchase price, it makes sense to buy a new one instead. It's not like we're talking about a $1500 amp head here.

Consider this:

You could buy a $1500 amp once and maybe pay a little more for repairs and maintenance over decades of use, or ...

buy a $300 amp 4 times over the same decades of use, but never pay for any repairs or maintenance because you replace it instead. In this scenario, which is less expensive over time?

So the return jack must still work. Buy a used Mustang Floor and run it into the return jack. Voila you are back in Mustang land for less than 200 bucks.
