i recently got a mustang v (version 1, i think) head. id like to get a dedicated "computer" to run fuse on to interact with the amp.

would a cheap (under $100) tablet work for this? a ($200ish) cheap netbook, or do i need a full blown pc ($500 laptop) ??

again, i want something dedicated to interfacing with the amp, so id like it as cheap as possible, and i dont really need it to do anything else.

suggestions??

Get a cheap android tablet that supports OTG USB and use Remuda app instead of Fuse.

To run FUSE, you need a Windows PC or Mac that supports both Microsoft Silverlight and Adobe Flash player.
For a Windows PC, you also need to be able to run 32-bit apps (i.e. a consumer grade OS), and display settings of less than ~150 DPI.
If using ASIO over USB with ASIO4ALL, you also need a USB 1.1/2.0 port. If the PC has USB 3.0/3.1, it also needs USB 2.0 drivers (which isn't a given).

I.e. a proper laptop or desktop, but nothing too cutting edge.

there is also a raspberry pi/Linux project (PLUG) that supposedly works... I don't have any experience with it, but it looks cool if you're into that kind of thing.

:)

When the blackberries are in season out here and grow free like weeds Blackberry pie is a good thing as well and you can even throw one in a box and share one with your friends, family, or neighbors. <g>

Remuda also runs surprisingly well run on the vast majority of Android Smartphones released in the past 3 or so years. The phone does not require an active SIMM Card, so you can use an old, deactivated, retired, or used smartphone.

Remuda's on screen layout works quite effectively on a 4" class smartphone screen, although it is glorious on a larger tablet display!

All you'll need is a OTG cable and be sure the Smartphone is capable of running USB Host mode.

I'm in the same boat as the OP...just got a Mustang amp, and I'd like to find a device that will run Fuse. I'm really interested in the Remuda app, but I don't own any Android devices, and I don't have any experience with them, either. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive tablet that will run the Remuda app?

Hi. Just about any generic Android tablet is suitable. Do look for USB OTG support in the docs. Kindle Fires are among some of the cheapest tablets out there right now and I have personally tested it on two of their older models with no problems.

Since this thread is still alive, I'll just add that for me, I'm not using fuse all that much, more like connect to my desktop and make some presets to save and then just do the fine adjustment with the amps when I'm playing. All this "computing" would be really distracting to me while I'm trying to play. Fuse is really nice for setting up presets, but not for a playing situation IMO. Just a thought.

I agree 100%. The overly complex graphic interface in Fuse is one of the many reasons that I created the Remuda app for Android. I saw all of the forum comments and requests for FUSE and took them to heart. I don't know if you have tried Remuda but it may be worth a look if you are actively gigging and wish you had a way to make live adjustments to your tone and effects from an Android phone or tablet clipped to your mic stand. Regards. Robert

So your are ready for the next step yet?
Like a GT and controlling it via iPhone and brain cells maybe?
Possible.

You could as well sit in front of your amp, for hours , maybe days,
with your guitar, your fav cabinet, a fresh cup of coffee and,
have some real fun twisting knobs and saving presets.

Do you, btw, know what a sus4 chord is and how to use it,
or how a diminished and an augmented chord work in a
melody?

No sweat, just a hint

Some of us prefer to save our presets using masking tape and a sharpie. :)

This comes across as condescending or at least mistargeted. Especially since you didn't address your post, making the target audience everybody. There are people here with music degrees, or who have studied and written articles on harmonies. And jazz players who are quite familiar with a plethora of chords beyond the standard ones.
As for "how to use it", it depends on the music in question. Trying to come up with fixed rules is like shoehorning every foot into a size 9 shoe. The end result may be fine, or it may hurt. The "how to use it" or "how a [...] chord work in a melody" must be answered with "when it sounds right". The guidelines are to be broken when it makes sense, which can be due to other harmonies several steps away, or a different instrument playing, or limitations of equal temperament and frets, or ...

Also, when using an external editor to compose your post, and paste it, try to remove the extra line feeds so text can flow. With bigger screens, it looks
weird when text breaks
where it made sense on
your screen, but not on
theirs.
