I know this has been discussed before in another thread, and I understand that the latency experienced when using the foot switch is due to having to switch between software presents.

1) However, I don't really understand why this should take so much time. Could someone explain that a bit further?

2) Also, I read that most people are experiencing the lag/latency, but not all. Are there people currently on this board who are experiencing no latency at all?

I'm kind of disappointed by the latency, as it makes the M3 V2 a lot less suitable for gigging (which was the main reason that I bought this amp).

Some of the latency depends on how much stuff you have on a patch. To avoid some of this one can use outboard foot pedals and the Stangs take them quite well. Also, there is kind of an art form switching from one patch to another with timing and all if you catch my drift.

Most digital processor amps have 1.5Ms of delay. I measure it on a scope with a pulse generator.
This is about one full cycle of an A 440 note, I believe.
Some pickers have described the effect to me. The engineers will tell you that you can't hear it. Yea...

When you change presets, the CPU has to go back to the memory and load new EQ and gain parameters. This takes time. Clock speed times the number of bits of new data. The clock is fast: @10 MHz, but it may be thousands of bits of data for the new patch.
Then the CPU has to look at the new program, look at the incoming signal and adjust its calculations to process it correctly.
It also has to read the positions of the volume and tone controls and compensate for them as well. The Master is usually the only control with audio signals on it.
Then it needs to load and change the info on the display screen
I have watched the circuits adjust themselves on the scope for @ 1/2 second or so on some amps.
Then there is the soft start aspect of changing presets or channels.
Too quick of a change introduces pops. So most have a few Msec of a ramped mute/unmute programmed in. They are still adjusting themselves after unmuting.
