My 15 yr old son got a mustang lll for Christmas (He got it early). He is now playing with our praise band. I'm a volunteer learning to run the audio. We have a piano, drummer, acoustic guitar and we just added Jack on electric guitar and we got a bass player. We only have 2 floor monitors which are getting the same mix from a single aux send. That leads to my question.

Is it possible to run an aux out to Jack's amp and use it as a monitor? Last week I put a mic on his amp and he used the amp as a monitor with just his guitar of course. This week I ran direct from the line out to the board. I'm not sure which way I will go with yet because I've not turned him up enough to differentiate between the two. He's still a bit nervous. Anyway, I would like to use his amp as a monitor with the full mix so he can hear everything better if possible.

Thanks!!

As long as you are sending a line level signal, it will probably work but I'm not sure it's going to sound quite right,, monitors are full range active or passive speaker enclosures, (woofer for the low freq. peizo/horn for the highs.)

I know that is not what you asked, but you could use the amp as a guitar monitor by connecting the amp to the mixer through the XLR outputs of the amp. That way he can determine how loud his guitar is in the "on stage-mix" by simply using the volume knob on his amp/"private monitor". Would that work, too?
