Hello,

I recently received my fender mustang III (V2) which has of course some kind of processor operating the (software) in the amp.

This software must be stored somewhere on the amp and just like on the MoBo of a regular computer, or in an outboard guitar effects processor, there is most likely a small battery enabling onboard storage of the amps OS and other software when the amp is off.

How long can we expect this battery to last?
And how / where do we do battery-replacement when needed at some point?

Cheers!

Hi stratele52,

Yes, I did change the battery on the MoBo of one of my computers once. Also, I used to have a Zoom9000 which needed -among other things- battery replacement.

Thanks for the reply!

ROM (read only memory) does not need a battery - I'd guess that's what is in the Mustang.
Computers have batteries to keep the internal clock running - I replaced one once in a Mac G3 but never on anything else.

Thanks markcc, that is good to know! :)

(Now I do wonder, though, why there was a battery on the zoom9000 effects processor that I used to have...)

Your configuration is store in "flash" memory, the same technonolybas those USB sticks. No need for a battery to keep it around.
