So I wanted to try and do a semi closed back. I cut a piece of wood, velcro'd it in so I can remove it. There is about 3 inch gap allowing for air to move in and out of the cab.

I really the bass response I get now especially on some of the clean sounds. It changed the faux marshall sounds quite a bit, they really, really sound good now. I feel it sounds better, its still chimey but not annoyingly harsh like I found it could be at times.

I don't have any pics to post of it right now, but could later for anyone interested. Has anyone else toyed with this at all?

I'm sure Fender experimented with enclosures for this mustang III amplifier, but these are my sound preferences and not theirs. I'm considering what you've done with the partial enclosure. Is the air gap that you created at the top or bottom of the amplifier. Great idea to use velcro as a temporary securing feature.

What I did was put some egg crate foam in the back of the amp and it increased the bass response immensely. The only downfall is if you play with a band the sound is now much more focused and harder for the rest of the band to hear. Having an open back amp lets the sound spread out more.
