I have a Mustang III V2. The other day I turned it on at band practice - amp completely reset back to original presets, Liquid Solo at 00, Whitechapel at 01, etc. all the way to 99. I didn't even have those presets on the amp anymore! I had a TON of custom presets that are completely gone! And the crappy part is I don't have them on the computer because I have a Mac now and it won't install Fuse. WTF?

Now I'm afraid to use the amp for my band because what happens if I show up to a gig and everything is reset? Completely unacceptable, has never happened to me before.

Anybody know what happened and if it can be reversed?

I'm certainly no expert. I the two years I have had each of my Mustangs and the many hundreds of Posts and Threads read here and on other Forums, I have not seen a single report of a spontaneous reset to Factory Settings.

Is your amp accessible to anyone else? Have you had any power surges, spikes, etc?

I know of no way to recover nor restore custom Presets if you did not have them backed up via Fuse (Windows or Mac) or Remuda (Android).

Nobody else uses the amp. It stays in our practice room in my basement and it's on a surge protecter. Also no lightning strikes around here since August. The only thing I did differently was I accidentally held down the tuning button while turning on the amp but I don't see how that would have reset the amp.

Pretty bummed about it.

Really sorry mate. Question is who has access to your practice room? Any disgruntled groupies? :(

Haha nope just the band and my wife, who doesn't know how to turn it on much less factory reset.

While we're here has anybody else had trouble installing fuse on a Mac? I have the software downloaded but nothing happens when I attempt install.

From the Mustang User Guide PDF

Quote:
Factory Restore

You can restore your Mustang amplifier to the original factory settings if desired. All user presets will be erased! To restore the Mustang amplifier to factory settings: 1. Turn the amplifier OFF. 2. Press and hold the EXIT button while turning the amplifier ON. Continue holding the EXIT button until it is no longer illuminated.

! The FACTORY RESTORE function will erase all user modified presets. It will also restore any effect selections that have been modified using Fender FUSE software.

Have no idea if holding the TAP Button during power-on has any affect.
Nonethless, as the Exit Button is directly above the Tap Button, the EXIT Button may have (also) been inadvertently depressed.

I'm going to assume that is what happened. I guess I must have been pushing the exit button, not the tuner.

That just really pisses me off. It shouldn't be so easy to factory reset the amp. I'm too frustrated with the thing to even use it for anything but blasting Christmas music through the house.

Did you recollect why any top panel button was pressed as you turned on the amp?

Moving forward, you may want to do a backup of any custom presets every so often. I've had my Mustangs nearly two years now. I rarely connect them to a PC as all my PCs are in other rooms. I find backing up my Mustangs far more convenient using my Android mobile devices, and it is much easier to exchange backup copies amongst my several Android devices.
