Hello,

I got a rather peculiar problem(?) with Fender Mustang FX loop. I already got a Boss RC3 looper and MFX Boss GT1 (not 001). Being unable to use 4 cable method as it does not have internal FX send/return, all stuff is connected the following way:
Guitar -> Mustang - > FX Send -> Boss GT1 -> Boss RC3 looper -> FX return
What is the proper way of configuring FX loop in Mustang? Should it be set to 'normal' or 'looper'? According to documentation of internal singnal pass, 'normal' mode is best for delays/reverbs etc (which are in Boss GT1), but there is still a looper (not to mention second looper in GT1) though, so?
But that's not the biggest problem. I tried to run post gain effects and used Greenbox (Tube Screamer) as an example (on default settings) and set up the same effect with roughly similar settings on GT1 unit. To my suprise postgain distortion almost does not exist and the effect sounds like light overdrive, but a volume increase is noticeable. That sounds the same on 'Normal' and 'Loop' and just for sake of eliminating other problems, cab emulation has been disabled permanently. But when I ran Tube Screamer on GT1 MFX it behaved unexpectedly: on 'Normal' it sounds the same way as Greenbox in postgain with no distortion, but it was so loud (at Mustang vol 2/10) that I had to reduce effect volume option in GT1 to 20/120 to make it beareable to my ears. I suppose that cranking master volume up to over 6 or 7 would clip the amp completely. On 'Loop' setting some unnatural distortion is added that definitely does not come from effect itself (did not check on delays but this may be a problem too). Given the official documentation, is there anything that manual does not tell us? What is the actual signal path then, why does it get altered? I assumed that FX loop is after preamp section and before power amp. When I ran GT1 in front of the amp, there were no problems and the sound was almost identical to Greenbox so no problem. But I'd rather have my MFX unit run in FX loop due to superior Delays/reverb quality and using also Mustang simulations and effects (why waste such great things?). Other option is to get GT100 and use proper 4cm but that costs twice as much as GT1 and I frankly do not need so big and advanced unit. I purchased separately Behringer GDI-21 (a copy of Tech21 SansAmp GT2) to eliminate at lease partially problem with distortions. I bet it is the same problem with all units, not only mine. If I missed anything, please ask. Any comments are welcome, also those related to other setup connections. Thanks in advance for replies.

Reference setup
Mustang III V2:
65"Twin, No Gain, EX to 5/10, presence 0, reverb 0, everything disabled, no cabs
Greenbox, pre and postgain, default settings
Boss GT1, only Tube screamer active (calibrated in front of amp to Mustang settings), no preamp active, output configured to FX return when runing via loop/ combo amp when running directly

PS. Are there any plans that Fender enabled movable effects via Mustang menu? Or least possiblity to add post effect in FX loop with default order. I got impression that Mustang project is already buried deep in the ground but who knows?
