Hello,

My Mustang Mini needs a new speaker. Does anyone know where/how I can find out the impedance range I need to stay within?

Thank you stratele52!

For me, this begs a question - in an amplifier that only puts out 7 watts rms, does it matter if the replacement for the 8 ohm stock speaker is 4, 8, or 16 ohms? I know that hooking an amp to the wrong impedance can ruin the amp, but I wonder if that is only important at higher power levels. I ask because I am considering making an extension cabinet with a driver that I already have that's 4 ohms.

Impedance matching is a must at any power level. Output solid state components or tubes need the proper load to work properley without damage.
Total impedance for this amp must be 8 ohms.

Some amp can use wrong impedance without ruin the amp. Who know about the Mustang mini ?
Wrong impedance can change the tone, will you hear it ?

I won't use a 4 ohms cab. Use a 8 ohms cab with the internal amp speaker disconnect. Two 8 ohms speakers in parallel are 4 ohms load for the amp

Solid state amps tend to be quite forgiving, and will normally have only a minimum impedance stated. I.e. using a 16 Ohm speaker on an 8 Ohm SS amp should normally not be a problem at all.
A 4 Ohm speaker likely won't be a problem either, but you might want to add a resistor anyhow, if nothing else to not blow the speaker when you dime it.
