After 3 years of gossips and preparation, yesterday, Line6 launched his new competitor in the Mustang class.

I cannot tell about the quality, but features and numbers are really good for marketing and sales.

A lot more fx and amps than the Mustang. But what really hit me is the interface (plus android and ios support ect ect). Looks really easy and effective. I am comparing with stang I&II.

I dont know about the tones. Can't see what tech it uses, XT or HD. I bet it is an updated XT tech, so many people may be pretty disappointed...

I think that is time for Fender to make his move, sort out something new. Spice up the dish with a new interface, new software, android support, an updated dsp that support some more slot of fx and some more fx.

But i would really would like to see from Fender is a step ahead in therm of digital amp. We should stop thinking in term of plain emulation of valve amps and use the advantages of the digital to sort out something new, fresh, better, takeing out the flaws of the old system and pushing further what people like in both digital and valve amps. Stop trying to do digital that sound "as good as valve" and start making digital that sound better than valve!

It is time for innovation and i think that this innovation should come from Fender.

I would add to your list a device similar to the Mustang Floor, a "processor only" unit. I don't want to carry around a power amp and speaker cab when I rarely need them.

The Mustang Floor is brilliant and it is too bad you cannot pick one up new and I bet they are hard to find used and perfect for what you are looking for. You would have to pry it out of my mouth and teeth for me to let go of it though. Sorry! <G>

Hear hear!

Not that I'm about to go out and get a Line 6. They'd have to come out with something pretty impressive to change my opinion of their amp models. But the timing seems right for Fender to launch something new in the modeling arena.

And just to piss **someone I shall not name** off, call it Remuda.

Not only that, but did you all notice that even boss is in on the game now with their katana line? I will say I have never heard a spyder that didn't sound like crap but imo the podhd500x has surpassed the mustang. Haven't played a Marshall code so idk about them. I have given up on mustangs, though, I'm about to buy a supersonic and just keep my M3v2 for small gigs.

As an aside, from demos on YouTube I think the line 6.Helix is the best modeler I've heard, even better than the axe fx ii. I'd love to get my hands on one but I'm not about to spend 3 grand on something that could get a beer spilled on it first night out.

When I sold my Mustang V v2 head and cab (too big for my needs) I always meant to pick up a Mustang III v2 but haven't yet. I am currently rocking a Paevey Vypyr PRO 100 and Sanpera PRO and think the MIII would be duplicitous. Fender at least needs to produce a gigable floorboard to use with the Mustang III, IV and V. The 4-button footswitches included aren't enough. That is the area that Peavey and Line 6 has them beat. Tonewise, the Mustangs are still very relevant.

Marshall Code is meh IMHO (just from noodling at big music box store.)

A new pedal board is a must.

I would also like a poket version of the actual DSP tech. Like line6 do with the PocketPOD, but with better interface and at least 1 stomp. Nice to noodle around in the house. Should also be cheap considering the price of a Mustang I.

The Marshall Code may have been an intersting toy, but it only has marshall tones, so no fender cristal cleans and a limited amount of high gain options. It may sell because of the brand, but i wonder if it can do much better than my Valvstate.

Initial reactions to it are not all favorable, it seems.

I meant the layout of the floor effects of the amp, the 4/2 footswitch. not the Mustang Floor.

I bought the Floor mostly for the interface at my feet for gigs because the 4/2 button controls for the Mustang IV do suck.

There is no LCD / heads up to let you know what stomp or mod is loaded in the preset without looking at the amp. the 2 button fs doesnt even have LEDs to let you know if something is on or off, so that's really only useful for preset up/down.

Multiple people posted above me that the 4/2 footswitch controls are lacking. Which is why I snagged a Mustang Floor. 5 presets at your feet with the option to switch to stomp mode and turn things on and off - all while having a nice LCD heads up of whats going on.

edit: I clarified above... my statement was about the floor layout of the controls using the amp, not about the Mustang Floor unit.

yea, I follow now..

I wasn't sure that's what you meant, I have to agree with what you're saying too.

I get by ok, with it when I use these in a live situation, which is usually a one set gig.

If we're up for a full night, (3/4 sets) I'll drag the Deville 4x10 or my marshall rig and the pedal board.
