I've made a royal mess of things, as i stated in an earlier post i was having a problem with my master volume pot being very scratchy (mustang 1) what i did once before was open the amp up and spray some contact cleaner in the pot and that worked for a couple months. well, today, i did the same thing, however, i seem to have screwed up the "computer/modeler" part of the amp.
what happens is while I'm playing the presets change. what I have tried to do so far is plug the amp into my computer and open fender fuse which tells me i need an update, i go through the prosess, however, it never seems to finish. the updates take no more then a couple minutes so i know something is very wrong.
does anyone have any ideas on what i should do?

this is just an update to my tale of woe, last night i opened the amp and sprayed contact cleaner on the master volume pot, i've done this before, however, when i turned the amp on i got a weird noise then i switched it off and on a few times it worked but while playing the presets would change by themselves.
then i plugged in the USB and fender fuse said i need an update, so i initiated the update but would never finish, i waited for 20 minutes, then i unplugged the USB, tried again now fender fuse refuses to open. i uninstalled fuse, reinstalled it but the same results.
i would appreciate any ideas anyone has. but me thinks i killed my amp.

I personally haven't had any trouble with contact cleaner, however I use it very sparingly and always wait until its dry before I fire the amp up. I don't know how conductive or corrosive the spray you used is or even if that matters. It could be the pot has given up the ghost ( I have found that sometimes cleaning a bad pot will cause it to fail altogether).

If its a software issue, one suggestion I can offer is regarding windows. If your running windows 8 or older, updates of any kind have become a problem, I cant say whether or not this applies to the fuse update process. Windows, in an attempt to push people into upgrading to win 10 have (some say nefariously) interfered with the services required to download and install updates and drivers. I haven't heard of this problem effecting 3rd party updates but I think its a possibility. The symptoms of the windows update fail are that the update just sticks at download for hours but never updates or installs. One troubleshoot you could try is running windows update manually and see if it is working correctly. If win update is wonky I can offer several workarounds that will resolve the issue, if that's the case get back to me and I will give you the info. Most of the problems comedown to the update that installs the "upgrade to win 10 icon in your quick start menu" if you have that icon chances are that your win update has failed or will fail.
Again this may have nothing to do with your issue if its the amp one of the amp experts here will surely be able to help you clear it up.
One last bit that may help
I know you reinstalled the fuse software ,you may try uninstalling the software, download a fresh vir of the fuse software and save it . Then if your comfortable with a registry edit type regedit in the run command box. Try a find search for fuse followed by find next and remove any instance of keys you find (you may search fender as well) restart, then reinstall the software with the amp not connected via usb.

Be advised editing the reg can be dangerous if your not comfortable with this type of thing leave it to someone who is.

Be aware pots may be made of fiber. Common contact cleaner is not as effective. Yes you should give time to dry before firing it up.

1- Because you use a good quality contact cleaner

Or

2- Pot are not very dirty.

I use many brand over the years and some are no good for heavy cleaning

I've only used a small amount, I'm sure a lot of it will damage them, I think most pots are self-wiping (I could be wrong about that) but anyway I've only use it for very light noise. I always felt that if a pot was making a bunch of noise it needed replacing.
