Anyone else notice some of the knobs on the mustang 3 v2 does not turn smoothly? I bought 2 and I noticed this issue with both. one of them has problem with the treble knob,if you turn from min to max you will feel resistance/notch somewhere in between. All other knobs turns smoothly.

The second amp has this issue with the volume knob.
I know the mustang are lower end amps but i never expect this kind of quality from fender. Even my Roland cube 20, all the knobs are buttery smooth.
They are just plastic pots, I have no idea what could be causing this. I removed the knobs and turning the pots have the same issue.

Did I get 2 lemons or are they all like that and we have to live with it?

Are these brand new?

Does the knob react properly, just physically tight in spots?

maybe time and use it will loosen up?

I've got 2 V1 amps, had them for some time now.... never noticed what you're asking about.

Yea brand new amps.
They function properly but when you turn the knobs you will feel like something is catching. Both amps have different knob that does this so that's why I'm thinking it's defect.

I wouldn't of cared if the knobs were just loose or tight.

Every knob on each of my Mustangs is smooth throughout their full range.

To avoid possible pot headaches ;) down the road, you may want to consider swapping the amps for new in the box units.

What do you mean?
The plastic knobs are not the problem, I tried removing all the knobs and turning the pots by hand and still have the same issue with the same pots.

Only way to fix this is open it up and replace the pots.

I guess I should go buy the lottery, what are the chances of 2 new units with different date codes , 2015 and 2016 having similar issues.

yea, I guess a long shot at the very least!

at the end of the day, sounds like this is more of a nuisance than anything else, since they are doing what they are supposed to be doine.

if you can do a return-for-another amp..., which I guess that's what ML was suggesting, then maybe you will get lucky on the next round.

To be more explicit, return the Amps for new in the box units. Presuming, each is still within it's respective right to return period. Otherwise, you're covered under the 5 year Fender warranty, should they fail.

As for what are the chances...? The first MIV v.2 I got from Guitar Center was factory sealed in the carton clearly indicating it was a v.2. When I opened the box, there was no footswitch. All three cables were missing. The Amp was actually a v.1 MIV - with the carbon fibre pattern vinyl exterior! There was no serial number sticker on the back panel and no residue as if it ever had one affixed!? It was immediately returned and a new replacement unit was ordered. This must have been a trade show, demo, or internal unit that somehow got repackaged at the factory into a v.2 carton and put back into the distribution channel. Sh*t happens!

Wow, I guess my situation isn't that bad. At least they are actually v2. Thanks for everyone's input. I'm going to return it to the store for another and hope it's problem free.
