Stay away from cables that are "suspiciously cheap". Especially those made in China. They often don't even live up to the specifications on their own packaging.

If you're dealing with a reputable electronics shop or ordering from Amazon, you should be easily able to return or exchange the item if it doesn't suit your needs.

Micro USB OTG adapters are not costly! I bought several from Fry's Electronics and they were no more than about $5 each. None of them have failed me yet.

My wife upgraded to a basic Samsung Galaxy 7 Smartphone several months ago and there was a USB OTG adapter block in the box!
