Good morning every one,

I use my Mustang III v2 every day and I like it very much. There's something a bit annoying, though. When I am in a preset which has a delay that can be set with tap tempo, if I enter the tuner and then exit, the amp always believes that I want to change the delay preset and asks if I want to save settings. Is there any way to avoid this?

Thanks.

are you referring to the red "save" light? this will happen if you make any change at all that differs from the preset, like even changing the delay time with tap tempo, did you use the tap temp feature at all?

I just ignore it..

You could get the 4-button footswitch (which is worth its money anyway) and then use that to enter and exit the tuner mode.

Thanks Chris. Maybe I will get that too eventually. But does that mean there's no other way to overcome this issue? I find it weird that if it's a known issue they didn't release a software fix or a workaround for such annoyance

Yes I am refering to it. I will give you an example. Let's say I am playing with "02 Intro Clean" preset. I want to tune. So I push the button, tune, and when I click on exit the red save light is on. I guess it's because the button tuner/tap works (as per label) for both things. But that's unreasonable. Because what should I push if I just want to tune? I don't use the tap function at all!

are you using the button on the amp, or the foot switch?

I do know that if I press & hold Tune/Tap my v1 amp goes in to tuner mode, and does not indicate there is a setting change detected.

But... if I sort of miss tap/hold it will light up the "save" button maybe your tap/tune is a bit sensitive?

I'll have to see what happens with the foot switch.. you have me curious! :)

Get the 4btn fsw! It does not have this problem. Step and long hold the fsw's Tuner/Mode Button to Enter Tuner mode. Quick Step on the same button (or any of the fsw's other buttons) to Exit Tuner Mode. The Red Save Change Button never illuminates! Also when using the fsw's Tuner Button to enter Tuner Mode, you may then Tap the amp's Tap/Tuner Button, or, the Amp's Exit Button to Exit Tuner Mode and the Red Save Button never lights up! The Tuner also has a very usable Tuner Display so you don't need to be at nor looking at the amp!

You're absolutely right that the amp's Tap/Tuner and Exit buttons act oddly when returning from Tuner Mode for the "02 Intro Clean" Preset. Either indicates a Preset status change (by illuminating the Red Save Button and displaying an asterisk in the LCD) when nothing has in fact changed! This is a quirk in the firmware that has never been fixed. Thanks for pointing this out. I had not noticed this.

I can replicate the behavior when using the Mustang IV v.2 Amp's Tap/Tuner button. It is irritating. The workarounds appear to be, either, ignore the Red Save status, or, momentarily move to the adjacent Preset then back to the one you were just on.

No, it's all the modes where the delay is "tappable".

That's sadly what I am forced to do!

what's the downside to ignoring the red light instead?

Most probably nothing, it's just I got used to spinning the wheel back and forth, it will take a while to get used to this other workaround..

There's no downside to ignoring it at all.

It's the same as making a temporary change to a patch that you don't want to save. Ignore it in health!
