Hi guys! Anyone know if very bright sunlight and high temperatures can damage the LCD screen on my Mustang 3 v2? I live in Spain and often play outside in these conditions...
Thanks in advance!

Car radio ( and more gadget ) use LCD and you may have higher temperature in a car than if you play outside in sunlight.

Car radios are also generally mounted inside the car where they are behind panes of glass which filter out some UV.

Also, consider that an LCD display can be covered with a variety of materials such as glass or clear plastic. A glass covered display would likely fair better under prolonged exposure to sunlight.

I often chill on my deck under a gazebo with my MIII and one of my electrics.

Got busy one Saturday recently and as the afternoon sun moved to where the area of the deck was no longer in the shade, the amp was in direct sunlight, and was on with the volume on 0, (my guitar was still shaded) maybe 2 / 2.5 hours of direct sunlight beating down on the amp.

when it was time to resume the "chill" I just grabbed my guitar (and a cold ale), turned the volume back up a bit, and off we go... so,, no.. I don't think you've a need to worry too much.

"Hot climates and garaging outside can cause the polarizing film on the cluster LCD screens to fade. "

"Try viewing the cluster through polarized sunglasses. If you can see the cluster, the polarizing film is definitely the problem.

In extreme heat conditions a monochrome LCD panel can reach such a high contrast level that it may appear to have blacked out. This can happen if exposed to intense direct sunlight or excessive heat. Typically, the display returns to normal once it reverts to normal temp. Repeated exposure to excessive heat is one of the most frequent causes of electrical component failure. You shouldn't be concerned about using your Mustang outdoors in the direct summer sunlight. However, if the ambient temp is soaring to over 100° F, direct sunlight will make the Mustang's top chassis hotter. Under such conditions, use a mike stand or equivalent to give the amp and yourself some shade relief. BTW, the Mustang's UTIL menu, has an LCD Display Contrast adjustment. You may find a more desirable setting than the factory default, which, IIRC was somewhere around midway: 46 or 49. YMMV.
