I have not changed any volume controls on my Mustang III v.4. When I hook up my earphones and play there is no static. With the earphones & Aux. connector plugged in I get a lot of static. The static decreases if I turn the master volume control down to around 3. Is this a problem with the Aux cable or the amp? Any help is appreciated. :?

It is not typical to have static from the Mustang.

Try a different playback device and cable with your Mustang. If no static, the problem is your player or cable. If problem persists it's your Mustang's AuxIn jack.

A can of compressed air can blow out possible dirt, dust and debris from your Mustang's AuxIn jack, if needed.

If the static crackles when you touch, spin or rotate the cable's plug in your playback device's output it could be that jack or the cable's connector. Try the same at the Mustang's AuxIn jack.

Thanks for the tips. I cleaned out all the jacks and made sure they were all tight. None of that helped. I finally hooked it up to another computer I had and bingo...no static! Now I'm in the market for a new sound card.

Forget my previous post about needing a new sound card. I decided to play around a little and start changing the plug in ports for the amp to the computer. I had the usb cable plugged into a usb hub. When I bypassed the hub and plugged it straight into a usb port on the computer all static stopped. The problem is in the usb hub. I'll just leave it connected to a computer port and not thru the hub. Problem solved. :D

Is the USB hub you were using an active powered hub?

I don't know if it's powered or not. The only connection is a usb cable to a usb socket on my computer. This is a six socket hub and all the sockets cause the static. I really don't need to use the hub for my amp. All other devises plugged into it work fine. It must be something with the electrical current going thru the hub. At least I don't have to go buy anything. The amp works just fine with no static when I bypass the hub.

If there's no power plug on the hub (and associated transformer powering it) it is a pssive non-powered USB Hub.

So long as you've got your workaround you're good to go.

Powered hubs afford the luxury of maintaining full USB signal throughput and bandwidth at greater disatances from the main PC. They cost a bit more, but when needed they're work it.
