I bought a used EXP-1 and while it works great, it is far to easy to click it from volume to expression mode. Any ideas on how to firm it up so I have to put a little effort into clicking the toe switch?

I have no idea to what extent, if any, switch spring production changes may have been made since the EXP-1 was introduced.

I have seen some user reports that they tightened the pivot point fasteners.

If yours is sufficiently snug, or you solely want to increase the fallaway resistance of the stomp switch, open the unit and see if the spring is accessible. You may be able to install a heavier spring (or perhaps stretch and reinstall the existing spring trying to increase it's resistance).

As you got the unit used, there be no warranty concerns. I had several EXP-1 units. Some were replaced due to dim Green LEDs. The stomp switch on all of them were very firm - almost requiring too much pressure to toggle.

I bought it from GC so I "could" take it back but would rather not. Used ones don't come up for sale very often and I already have it, so I' rather just fix it real quick if possible.

The pedal movement is nice and stiff so I don't think adjusting the tension nut will help, but I may be wrong. It just takes the slightest amount of extra pressure once 100% travel has been reached to activate the switch.

So the spring is the only factor that controls how much pressure is needed? I'll take a look at it later today. Thank you.

Be careful after removing the Four (4) bottom cover screws and removing the base plate. As I recollect, to access the switch on the upper side of the PCB, there are Two (2) internal support screws to remove to free the PCB. There is also a short delicate wiring run terminating at the LEDs. Make sure you don't strain or break this when removing the PCB!

Had a chance to work on it today. After tearing into and figuring out how it worked, I came up with a fairly simple solution. The switch actually has two springs and I really didn't feel like tweaking them. So, I shimmed the circuit board with some old motherboard paper shims. Now the "lower" spring has to travel a smidge more to actuate the switch, which means I have to push a little bit harder.
