Anyone had this problem where the amp has become noisier with hiss and the volume is lower than usual at a given master setting? Mine just started being much noisier than usual, and without having touched the volumes in the patches, the master volume when on 4 was loud as he|| and as loud as i'd ever need at gig level. Now this noise has started and the amp isn't as loud as before. Now it seems to need to be at 4 to be as loud as it previously was at maybe 3. First thought was dirty switching jack in the loop but i patched the send and return together and thats not it. Ohm'd out the speaker with a meter and it reads correctly. Did a firmware update and factory restore. Has anyone had this issue and found what caused it?

Reseat the ribbon cable connections on the boards inside. A bit of spray electrical contact cleaner can do wonders!

If your amp is still under warranty, consider getting it to a Fender Authorized Service facility.

You probably know this already, but different Presets using different amp models can have inherently distinct noise floors from one another. Add in one or several enabled FXs (with the FXs' levels turned up) and the noise floor can really be different. After you performed the factory restore, did you subsequently reinstate any of your custom gain or volume parameter settings on the amp models and presets? I forgot to reinstate mine once after doing a factory reset. I was instantly reminded how dramatically different the factory settings were from mine.

I saved then restored my patches so it's not settings. As to reseating the ribbon cables, i did that not long ago for a similar problem. It may have been my post you saw if you got that from a forum. Not sure if i posted it here or the tele forum but in any case i reseated all of them and used deoxit on them, so i doubt that's it.

Did you try swapping the cable that goes from the guitar to your amp? Remove everything else from the signal chain except the guitar and the amp? Does your guitar have active pickups? Do they need a new battery? Just a couple of things to check.....

Of course, i eliminated all possible outside things even the footswitch and cable. The issue seems to have gone away tho. Maybe my ears were fried or some other fluke, i dunno.

well then that probably rules out the bad battery too. Moving on!

I think I have simillar problem. Suddenly amp has become strange noisy and much lower on volume. Some presets sounds quite good but most of them sounds like a crap now. Also I have noticed that gutar reacts much stronger with volume control ona a guitar. Chust a little change and the signal is much weaker. Nothing has changed in my room. I play in the same configuration. Probably there is some problem with electrical installation here, but everything was good in this configuration. I just tried to remove everything unnecessary from the power strip, and now i think it is a little bit better. But still not the same. It's hard to describe. For example, chack two presets that are availible for download in a fuse community. 60 trippy and hells bells by Grey Tone. Just check them, they are so nice and crunchy. Hells bells sound for me almost like an oryginal sound of AC DC but now everything is gone. They sound much darker and they lost this crunchy sound.
I hope someone will understand me :P

Have you tried a different guitar cable? Different guitar? How is the clean sound? The crunchier patches can hide a lot of things, which become obvious when you switch to a clean sound.

Have you changed anything recently? Different brand of strings? Changed string height?

Nothing has changed with my guitar. Right now i can't try different guitar or cable. But i think i will go to the music shop, maybe they will agree to show my different guitra, cable or other mustang amp. Right now I know that this is not problem with electrical installation as I hoped :( I tried to plug amp in different place. It was the same. I think there were some symptoms before, but Im not sure if they are part of the problem. First I've noticed that turning the volume on a guitar for both pick ups is cousing little more noise on amp. But no problem was with that. But just before this $@!& happened to my amp I remeber playing Hells Bells preset when suddelny sound start changing during play from little ovedriven to almost clean and again more crunchy. Day later amp and all presets start to sound like crap, now it's little better. High gain sounds quite good at least presets im using now, still i think that something is wrong but this can be my paranoia :P But crunchy sounds lost all of their crunch, they are much, much lower on volume, darker and... clean . Clean sounds are also much lower on volume and are worse but it's different for different presets. Also now I see that preset Brian May - gain is on 6 there completly has lost ovedriven sound! It's clean. Manually adding gain has no effect
I think that all kinds of sound are lower on voulme but high gain presets are closest to the oryginal - I'm not complelty sure about them.
Another symptom - changing the volume on guitar just a little bit, lets say from 10 to 7-8 cuts signal a half. Something like that. It's really sensitive for this right now.

This is sounding more and more like a cable gone bad, or an issue with the guitar. Since cables are 100% more likely to go bad than anything in the guitar (especially if it's a cheap cable), I'd just swap cables.

It could also be a dirty jack in the guitar, or dirty pot in the guitar. Both are easy enough to fix, but not as easy as simply trying a different cable first.

I was in a music shop, but some guy there said that this has to be a problem with amp. Some presets seems to be ok, so it shouldn't be cable or guitar. So after some talk I even did't check different guitar or cable. But if you sure that still this could be cable or guitar I will go there again. Or ewentually I will go back home on a free day. I have there other guitar

The single easiest thing to try is a new cable.

Some presets may seem ok, depending on compression, noise gate, drive levels, etc.

It still seems like the most likely culprit is the guitar cable. You are going straight from the guitar to the amp, right? Just try a different cable, and that will eliminate all of the guesswork.

Eddie The Trooper, do you have EMG pickups or any other brand of active pickups? If so, have you tried a fresh 9v battery?

No, I don't have active pickups. I have Gibson BurstBuckers
Anyway, the problem has been partially identified... it's not the amp and it's not a cable, it's a guitar :( I hope it's something easy and cheap to fix :(
