Got it! :D

It was only after several months of having the amps that I used them together. In combination, they sound terrific -- even at conversational SPLs. At higher SPLs the combination is tremendous! So much so, that I use a pair of Eargasm High Fidelity in-ear protectors to enjoy the chest filling SPLs when I'm not otherwise using my Shure in ear monitors.

I'm new here, had my Mustang V for 4 days. I have questions that keep coming up, here is one of the first ones I had:
I have the 4 button foot switch that comes with the V. Does the 2 button add on have a chip, or circuit board in it that makes it uniquely compatible with Mustang amps? Or, will any two button foot switch do the same function(s)? What I think I would mainly use it for would be going Up and Down between presets. That way I could use the four button primarily to turn effects On and Off.

Hi Gus,,

I've "heard" that it's a different switch, someone may be able to confirm..

of course, you could try one if you had a 2 button, it just won't work. it wont hurt anything.

Hi Gus!

Mustang owners here are eager to help! Post your questions, so we can help you through the Mustang learning curve.

As far as I know, unless you wire up something yourself, the Mustangs require their dedicated footswith units. Thus, I do not expect other than Fender's specific Mustang footswitch units to work.

My suggestion is to spend a few days to determine if you feel comfortable using the 4btn fsw in its versatile default multi-mode capacity. This provides full access to all three Modes, rather than restricting the footswitch, by locking it via the UTIL menu, to just a single mode. Many have no problem stepping through the three Modes. Nonetheless, some prefer adding the 2 btn fsw. Having both, I find, I still the 4btn fsw far more useful and I only use the 2 btn fsw infrequently to bypass Reverb or Tap (set) Delay. Moreover, you could allocate the money for a 2btn fsw towards the really useful Mustang EXP-1 Expression and Volume Pedal.

If you have not seen it check out the Mustang Amp and Fuse wikia

2 years here and same thing. The endless possibilities keep it fresh. Good example: after 2 years of a few different models being my #1 sound at different times, i just recently hit on another one thats even more of an improvement ! Now i have a new #1 sound and it;s as tho i just bough a new amp ! Thats why this thing never gets old and it keeps me from thinking about a new amp purchase. With tube amps, no matter how good they were i would get used to the sound and get a bit bored with it even if it was a killing tone. But it would pretty much give one main tone and you tend to tire of even what might be an incredibly good tone. Thats why people can never find thier holy grail, and it's also the mustang;s strength. You get tired of that one great tone and you can switch to a totally different one till that gets boring, then going back to your #1 patch now feels fresh. So the stang never loses it';s newness or gets boring. Of course none of this would matter if not for the fact this amp can cop true tube feel and tone 100%, but it absolutly does.

I can honestly say, this amp still hits a home run with me 5 years later. Endless possibilities with superb tone has made this amp king Weenie in my amp court..and I just don't see that changing

I feel exactly the same with my MIII, although I do agree with what oczad said about trying the Marshall Code, I would not get rid of the MIII because there are some truly nice tones to be had. But its always good to get the GAS going.

Sold a 65 Deluxe Reverb today and will sell another one this weekend. You know I got to turn them both on today and i played a bit and there is something very special about them,...but...I went into the other room and played my Mustang and the freaking ***diversity*** kills it right there. End of story.

Yes...diversity keeps it fresh and interesting daily to play. This amp is a real treat to play out live with....those who have not had the experience of playing out with one are really missing out

Playing a Fender Mustang is a blast! For anyone undaunted by its technology, its diverse capabilities are wonderfully bundled in to nicely usable package.

For players more suited to a traditional amp, with just the basic knobs and perhaps a few outboard pedals, using a Mustang can be mind boggling. Sort of like sitting down at a recording console and not knowing how nor what to do to get what you want from it. Many enjoy the capabilites, others do not want the complexity.

At their price the Mustangs are outstanding! I do hope Fender continues with the technology and brings back a comprehensive floor unit as well as successors to the current Mustangs. For the interim, mine are better than when I bought them, and as with any surviving vintage amp, will hopefully continue doing what they were designed to do for years to come!

Third "birthday" coming up in days. No problems---indoors, outdoors, low volume, high volume, wet weather, hot weather. Very consistent performance, great projection. VERY happy with my purchase. I gig 1-3 times per week---clubs, privates. I've owned a Princeton and a Bassman (pre-CBS, bought new) and a '74/'75 Quad Reverb (again, purchased new). I don't miss any of them because the Mustang IIIv2 has become my favorite Fender amp.

I've had my Mustang IV V1 since 2012 and it was a great choice then and still is. I chose it because of the price, features, sound, look, and weight.

I find it keeps me interested, but I have had the odd ocassion where the next preset effects do not switch in and/or the previous preset is held over when a preset is switched from one to the other. This is a rare intermittent case that is likely software related; but, it is a problem almost never, and it would be difficult to troubleshoot. A complete recall of original settings has been done, Fuse presets were re-introduced, and yet this still has reoccurred. It hasn't happened for some time, and maybe luck is involved. Minor issue for me at the price and usage, although, I wouldn't want it to occur at a gig.

All in all Mustang is a great value, and using N3s (and other noiseless pups, perhaps N4s) seem to take some edge out of the digital to which it would be nice to add some tube warmth were that possible.

Mustang over the years? A keeper.
