I like the idea of using the 2 button switch to move up and down through presets and using the 4 button switch in stomp box mode. This leaves me with no tap tempo foot switch. I'm thinking of opening up my mustang iii, soldering leads to the tap tempo traces, and installing a 1/4" jack in the back of the amp next to the other foot switch jacks. Then I could just run a cable to a tap tempo foot switch.

Before I start disassembly, has anyone seen the circuit bird or have pics to be able to tell if it is possible?

Okay, I will bite once again because no one is chiming in. Your warranty will be void and you're a braver humanoid than I am. I have messed with circuit boards and what not, but I have no earthly idea what you are trying to do will work.

I would post in some other Fender Forums about this. Technicians are available but much more tube oriented and analogue.

I will defer to MusicLaw as he knows better than me or at least he will give you much better counsel. :-)

I use the 4btn fsw unlocked. All modes/features are within 2 quick taps of the fsw's Mode btn.

The 2btn fsw is configured for Reverb / Tap.

Works for me!

Review the schematics for your amp and the several threads here in the forums' that have photos of the internal boards. You may find a way to tap into the Tap Button control system for the Mod (Rate) and Delay (Time) parameters. Seems like an invasive and cumbersome task to rework the system.

when I first read this thread, I kinda had the same thought HIO mentioned, but I declined a post.

yea,, this works ok for me too, albeit there's a bit of toe-dancin to change modes,

I use Stomp/Tap on the 2 button. One thing which would have been great is if there was an indicator LED on the FS - or alternately if the 4 button, pulsed over the "Delay" button, if you miss tap, you have no idea at all what sort of delay time you're going to wind up with unless you look back to the amp, if you're multi-tasking, (singing/playing/changing things) you don't have the ability to check on the fly. a minor nit, mind you..

Agreed. One or (even better) two active visible blinking interval LEDs on the footswitch displaying the Mod (Rate) and Delay (Time) would have been terrific! That's not how they designed the footswitch.

Just last night I forwarded the feature suggestion to Remuda's Developer. Perhaps he may feel the feature is viable to include in a future Remuda version, presuming the USB interface can handle it.

I rarely use FUSE. Two questions. Does FUSE display any blinking indication for the Mod (Rate) and Delay (Time) values? Does FUSE support any TAP button equivalent using the computer keyboard pr click of the mouse button, or touch pad's click button? If so, the USB supports it. If not, either, FUSE was not designed to support the feature, or the USB port may not support the throughput. As I recollect the USB 2 spec supports 480megabits per second and that should be more than sufficient. If there is no bottleneck on Android's side, perhaps we'll see the feature in Remuda.

As for the foot multi-tap dancing to set the tap interval, that definitely takes a bit of getting used to. It is no more fail safe than inadvertently hitting the wrong footswitch button on a 12 or 16 button footswitch panel, or hitting a wrong note on the fretboard. Hopefully it doesn't happen too often. If it does, you play through it (as the show must go on), or you stop and do another take, or you punch in a track correction later.

no, only the AMP delay button will indicate that. Fuse only shows the basics on the delay time dial

oh ya,, definitely,, usually it isn't a problem,, but there's a few times where it's "Ah CRAP! what just happened".. of course by then,, it's too late to do anything useful, so you just gotta go with it do some more dancing so you can drive past the train wreck.. :)

Thanks for the replies. I haven't even started on the project other than just brainstorm as work and family take priority. I bought the amp used so I have no warranty. In the meantime, I've been thinking of just getting a Nova Delay to run in the effects loop to handle my tap tempo delay needs and the tremolo I could just dial in during rehearsal and save the preset.

It would be a fun project though. If capable, even tap into the LED lines then run a cat5 cable to a stomp box with a switch and a couple LEDs. Perhaps sometime down the road.

Looks like I could expose the traces where I marked red and make the external tap tempo happen. But, until I really need the function and am being limited without it, I will probably just hold off.
