Find it a bit weird there was no 1/4 inch or XLR preamp output on the Mustang V. There is of course the 1/8 inch headphone and aux jacks but those aren't really what I'd consider "professional". Was considering perhaps a mod to add 1/4 inch, XLR or even RCA stereo outputs. I wonder if anyone has tried this?

I don't have that model amp, but I know with the v1 Mustang III amps, you can use the FX Send as a 1/4" preamp out. And from the picture below, it looks like it does indeed have XLR line outs? Is your amp v1 or v2?

Sounds like you have a Version 1, upgrade to a Version 2 and you will be all set plus you get some new amp and fx models as well.

Yes, I do indeed have a version 1. Thing is, I only payed $150 for this thing brand new. If I can use the FX send that will be good enough for me. Thanks for the info, I do like the V2 but I really can't justify the upgrade cost, unless I can sell my V1 for a good price on CL. Still, I'd have to get a good deal on a V2 or it'd still probably cost me an extra $150.

A new MV (v2) typically goes for $299. When on sale and marked down they can be had for as much as 20% Off!

You certainly could modify your MV (V1). You should take a look at the schematics to determine if they are applicable to the older v1. Use the Forum's Search tool or Google for the Mustang Wiki to find them.
