Different brand have different models, some may work some not.
As schematic show, you only need a single on/off switch.
Question ; should you use shielded cable or not ? I don't know.

The 2btn fsw and 4btn fsw units that work with the MIII/MIV/MV come with two conductor zip cord style cables that are not shielded. If the runs were substantially longer than the 10' included cables, I would use shielded cables or use Snap on ferrite choke beads at each end to prevent any spurious RFI from getting in the line.

Have no idea what Fender's MI fsw pkg includes.

I found a Traynor foot switch in a clearance bin, exactly like this one . . .

. . . except for the logo. It works fine on my Mustang I. The status LED is somewhat dim, but I don't care.

P.S. You'll probably want a "latching" switch, which will stay on (or off) after you take your foot off it.
For a very short while I was using a non-latching sustain footswitch from an old Yamaha keyboard. As soon as I took my foot off it would revert back to the off (ie. "open") state.
