I would have checked out Fractal for that amount of money which you do not allude to but that is totally okay. Cheers!

Well, the Fractal AX8 may or may not be better. At this point, it doesn't matter. I own the Helix. Is the Fractal actually better? Who knows? Who cares? For the sake of argument let's say that it is. Can it actually be easily, noticeably, markedly better than the Helix? Highly doubtful. Because at these price points, you're always splitting hairs. On top of that, there's the Helix's UI and and its incredible flexibility. While the Fractal may be equally flexible, its UI cannot even begin to hold a candle to the Helix's, especially when you take into account the Helix's screen size advantage. Its UI is not without its flaws and there are plenty of boneheaded decisions the designers made that, to me, make no sense whatsoever - but hey, what in life is perfect? That said, for as flexible and complicated as it can be, no modeler's UI is as easy and as intuitive as the Helix's.

They delivered? With the Mustang Floor and its fixed FX loop, no dedicated EQ and limited simultaneous effects? Seriously?

So Orcatraz ... this Helix interests me. But I wouldn't know what to plug it into. What are you plugging yours into? :| Also wondering what the whole rig would cost with an appropriate amp or PA.

It's a high end modeler. You can plug it into anything but I think plugging devices like this into amps is a waste of time. You're taking away all of its flexibility plugging into an amp. I use a JBL EON 610. Light, powerful, outrageous!

As to the cost with an appropriate PA, do the math. Helix = $1500 + ?
There are plenty of options.

Third gig with the Helix last night. Other than still having to tweak the levels between patches, as well as the relative levels of the A/B foot switchable Paths 1 & 2 (per patch) to each other, I'm in hog heaven, tone-wise.

You have a $1500 pedal plugged into one 10" speaker?

Have you ever even heard a JBL EON610? Its 700 clean watts are put to good use and is more than plenty. I have 2 of the EONs but have hardly ever needed them both. My job is to play music not deafen people.

actually adding speakers is less about volume and more about coverage. Usually one 10" speaker will not fill a large room or outdoor event well. But no, I never heard a JBL EON610, sounds like it's worth checking out.

I'm afraid a $2300 guitar rig is out of the question right now though, thus here I am with my $300 Mustang III.

I did check out some more videos on the Helix. The flexibility demonstrated is very impressive; I hope Fender is taking notes. It's pretty crazy actually what one guy was doing with it.

On the negative side, I still don't hear a Fender amp in there. Maybe it's just the compressed YouTube audio, but none of the "bluesy" stuff sounded genuine to me at all. And these guys doing the demos always try to get a heavy "crunch" sound going - they shouldn't try. Even if that sound is in there, these guys don't know how to find it.

Now if someone can only take the nice clean Fender mustang models, and combine them with the flexibility of the Helix .... for $500 or less....and it should dispense bacon ...

The JBL EON610 is 1000 watts.

The JBL EON610 is $300.00 and not $800.00.

sorry, 2 of them would be $600, not $800. I was on JBL's site looking at MSRP. But still ... that's $2100 + tax. Out of my league ATM.

Yep, that would put it out of your league since I do all of your bookkeeping and taxes every year. <g>

It depends on how the speaker is placed and actually, smaller speakers have better dispersion patterns than the bigger ones.

The "Fender Amp" is in there. It all depends on how you hear a Fender amp. In the demos, the clean amps are typically how they hear a Fender amp.

That's all I was asking for but Fender Didn't Deliver.

!000 watts peak, 700 watts RMS.
