Winter NAMM is in 5 weeks. It will be interesting to discover more about Fender's 2017 Amp plans, whatever those may turn out to be.

According to Bloomberg, a new bluetooth amp series is on the way.

"Fender's newest amp model, to be released next year, will be able to connect to apps wirelessly, through Bluetooth, to let players alter and share sound effects."

My guess is that this will likely be in the low-end/consumerist market segment, as a replacement for the unmaintained Mustang series. The midrange segment already got new amps last year with the Bassbreaker series, and as for higher end, well, Fender seems to have abandoned that market.

Good info! Do you also do insider trading with information? <g>

I posted this elsewhere, but. as it relates here, I thought it might be of interest:

The new Mustang GT 40, GT 100, and GT 200 all have Bluetooth and WiFi. The first amps in the world to have WiFi! Congrats, Fender. (Maybe wireless guitar is in the works, although, tried and true methods are hard to beat IMHO. Still, it might be okay at home).

It appears the modeling has upgrade attention. Mustang IV's successor may have had 50 watts added (can't say for sure, but along with the amp's 200 designation, two Celestion speakers appear to be labeled differently. I couldn't find a clear photo). Also, the 200's twin speakers are diagonal to each other rather than side by side. On the back - jacks are similar with one foot switch only with the USB moved to the back above the foot switch.

Top controls are similar but with a little different layout and minor changes in cosmetic design along with a colour display.

As for Fuse I could find no mention other than what appears to be a new Tone App.

A Floor model, Mustang V replacement with head amp and cab, and foot pedal information could not be found as of yet.

The handle is not flexible. It is more like the one on hard cases.

There is also some promotion of the 100 being performance ready and the 200 for larger venues. I guess we'll have to see and give them a listen.
Cheers!
FSB

Full specs are hard to locate, but some online stores have announced the amps.

Agree to the point,
where every piece of gear has it's ups'n downs.
A $ 6000 Boogie sounds even better in that
hardwood enclosure or with a EV 12L instead of a Celestion - a matter of taste.
I spare the history - even a MIV - btw,
has all gimmicks any player could ever need.
So, you want to go professional ?
Get your chops together for any situation that might occur, not your personal pref's.
2 things u will really need:
A longer cable for the footswitch
and a flightcase to protect your amp.
And strings, many, many strings

today I had my guitar on a Mustang V.

What a sound - earth shaking.

I used it clean in combination with an external Tube distortion stompbox.

I already have a Mustang II with different speaker.
But I was amazed to hear my guitar on a big 8 speaker stack.

Nice!

Be careful though. Many years ago I woke up with blood on my pillow because of a friend's stack too close for too long by my ears. As it was explained to me during a checkup, think of the hammer in your ear constantly pounding away without a break. Moderation and safe listening practices are the key. And that's from a drummer/guitarist

You might as well awake deaf - protect your hearing !

These Mustangs can get pretty loud, beyond being healthy.
Pete Townshend of The Who initiated a foundation to inform musicians how to protect their hearing from loosing it.
There are tiny hairs in the inner ear - read wiki
Once the fold down, you're done, forever
Absolutely no cure for it, period

Beethoven used to drink his wine from a lead (plumbum) bowl.
His last symphonies were written lying on the piano with his deaf ears trying to grab an impression of what he thought.

You do not want that happen to you, metal head, do you

Yeah. You want to be able to hear the nuances and dynamics to express your skills so that others can experience it. Any loss of hearing whether it's premature or through aging is a loss IMHO. My hearing is pretty good, but through unannounced warship gunshots, unnecessary cranked studio monitors and amps (including my own), drums and big bands, and a host of the usual culprits, I can say I would trade it for better hearing.

There is deafness in my family on both sides and lifestyle is compromised. So with my having a Mustang IV, Harald4 said it right when he said those Mustangs can scream very loud.

Nuff said.

Sad to hear, especially that war part.

I have another one:

Walking the streets, looking like a rock player, it happens:

The fire departement start their air pressure driven sirene
right where you walk -

Thanks, but no thanks

Wear ear protection always as soon as you leave the house.
You will get used to it

This Mustang of yours is an all in one multy-trick pony.
No need for external stuff - finally !
Just a longer cable for the footswitch.
There are numerous overdrive & distortion boxes included.

Remember: This is a Fender.
70 years of experience at your fingers, respect !

I prefer the black box and a rectifier - tune to taste.
Every amp model has a distinctive sonic quality -
The Champ is notoriously silent but you can always crank up the volume to enhance its charakter. On the other hand,
a Twin, even the 1st edition is ear-shattering.
Reduce the volume to preserve it's character.

"There's a difference between kneeling down and bending over" FZ.

John Fogerty still plays his '65 Deluxe that made him millions...

Obviously, there are 2 versions of this amp in a Mustang.

So, my advice here is:

Put 2 EV 12L in a cabinet, stuff it like a HiFi box and you're done

true, I like the fender sound....but have a listen....a direct compare of a "real" tube and a model stompbox with british 80 amp, same cabinet:

https://soundcloud.com/darkstar679/tube-factor4

I would say, the real tube sounds sweeter than the model which is a little fizzy compared.

Fine,
I have a refurbished Fender 75 here as a reference and you are right, it sounds sweet.

However, you cannot compare a beamer vs. a Porsche.
Maybe a 1968 V8 Mustang has that nastiness a big bad boy is looking for.

Back to hearing, a topic that needs some explanations.

The theoretical foundation was laid down by Pythagoras in Greece 3000 years ago.
It says, any frequency consists of overtones below and above any given note - the overtone row - wiki.

So, if someone has a predisposition from his/her ancestors or he may be partially disabled by an accident, this does not necessarily constitute a reason for despair.
Due to the overtone row it is easy to replace lost frequencies by below and above ones.
My left ear is slightly lower in hearing capabilities than my right one.

Btw, your pet dog is a master in hearing and smelling.
Humans would go crazy if they had these capabillities, I assume.
Your wife’s car turns into your street?
Your dog knows long before you and starts to bark in anticipation.
Now, saliva starts to fill your mouth -
so much for conditioning.

But that does not imply the inability
to tweak them knobs thoroughly until
I have found the sound I was looking for - which I do now

Where would we be now if not for the 9th symphony of the then
already deaf Ludwig van Beethoven ?
A sophistic question - Eat that question

On youtube there is also a blindfold test between a tube Deluxe
and a Fender solid-state Mustang.
Most people preferred the Mustang, it sounds more distinguished.
This has influenced my buying decision thoroughly.
I preferred the solid-state amp also

I once had a Gibson Lab 5, the years that followed were labeled
as constantly loosing money, replacing tubes and growing
frustrations.
This has stopped since running the MIV

As I said, I'm really happy with the Mustang and the cool features it has.

The sound is really great.
