Winter NAAM is just around the corner and three weeks away and Fender will be there. Anybody have the skinny on any new Mustang line of equipment? Probably not because it is usually hushed so they can make the surprise. Just curious where the Mustangs will be going down the road. On tour for sure. :)

I think you'll find that Fender NAMM 2016 on the electric guitar amp side will be mostly Bassbreaker.

My personal speculation is that if there are any new low-cost SS amps from FMIC, they won't be called Fender, and won't be Mustang.
Over the last year, Fender has closed down all the low-cost Asian electric guitar production under the Fender brand, and focused more on the mid-to-high cost segment, leaving the low-cost products under the Squier brand.
It wouldn't surprise me if they will do the same with amps, especially after launching the really expensive Acoustic Pro/SFX series of solid-state acoustic amps and now the Bassbreaker series.
This divestment of the lower cost products makes sense if they try to build a better rep for the Fender brand.

After further review of the Bassbreaker and the Acoustic Pro/SFX, I will keep my Mustangs. Mustangs sound fantastic even at low volume, much more versatile, and cheaper to purchase and maintain and I own, owned or have played dozens of tube and solid state amps over the years.

I will just stock up now before they are discontinued and before they become the next big item you cannot get your hands on like the Fender Floor.

Winter NAMM 2015 had a stack of empty Mustang Amp Boxes for visual impact whist not a single Mustang Amp was to be found amongst the numerous Fender Amps available to see, touch, demo, etc. Meanwhile, Fender's representatives were quick to assert that the Mustangs are Fender's best selling and the world's most popular selling Amp line.

Whatever Winter NAMM 2016 may hold regarding any Fender Modeling Amp technology remains to be seen at the show in just a few short weeks (Jan 21-24). Everything prior thereto other than an official announcement from Fender is nothing more than pure speculation.

Should the Mustangs not suit your needs or should you need a state of the art system (and prepared to pay for the privilege), Fractal Audio Systems' products are tangible and highly regarded by Pros worldwide.

Well, they're cheap. It is not surprising that an awful lot of first time buyers will end up with a Mustang I, because they have to have something to go along with their cheap guitar.
Outside sales or miniature amps, the Mustang I is about as cheap as it gets.
It's the same reason as why the Squier Bullet Strat is one of the absolute biggest sellers for guitars.

Talk about dilution of brand. Fender key chains, wine openers, bottle openers, hats, mugs, tees, baby clothes, pins, magnets, water bottles, mouse pads, bumper stickers, beanies, pins, bar stools, some new guitars and amps, etc...., but nothing new Mustang related. Whatever!

I haven't seen anything about the Mustang Amps either... but, I don't think they'll be discontinuing them... that would be a foolish move...

Perhaps the price point of the Mustang Amps will go up... but, I would think if that happens it will be because they'll be using better parts (pots, jacks, corner covers etc...).

Frankly, I think that would be a smart move... the amplifiers are already outstanding however... I feel if they improved (and charge a bit more...) for some of those "upgraded" features... it will only benefit the Mustang line as a whole... and I, for one, would not have a problem paying a bit more for those types of upgrades... becuase the amps are friggin fantastic...

I've always thought that the smart move would be to come out with a "Mustang Pro" line. Same basic electronics, but with sturdier cabinets, better tolex, actual metal jacks, useful jacks (instead of the miserable plastic 1/8" TRS - use actual Switchcraft 1/4" jacks). The additional cost couldn't be that much more, and it would make for a significantly more robust package. More touring acts might be more inclined to use them, if they thought they could stand the rigors of the road.

This. Add a normal USB jack instead of that wonky mini one and a new FUSE version with support for mobile and Bluetooth and you have the next cash cow.

WTF are you doing, Fender? This isn't rocket science.

nothing new for the modelers.

Marshall has just announced the CODE series combos and head.

the demos are what they are but they seem to sound pretty darn good

Thanks for the info on the Marshall CODE. I love my Mustang Amps and Fuse software, but it's getting a bit "long in the tooth", Pre-ordered a Code 50, I find its iOS Bluetooth integration very appealing.

ah nice!

I'm feeling the same, ready to try something new (heck, I'm always ready for that!)

I for one will eagerly await your results! I'm liking the 50 watt 1x12 for not a whole lot of cash!

I have the mustang I V.1,mustang floor and mustang V ver.1 head with a line 6 4x12 spider III cabinet. I would like to see fender add a new cabinet matching modeling feature that would let you select from 1x12,2x12 and 4x12 cabinets that you select to match your fender mustang amp or cabinet that you are using with your mustang V head, let me explain further what i mean, for example with my mustang V head and line 6 spider cabinet i would be able to select from a menu of cabinets in the fuse software or from the mustang III,IV or V in the top lcd display menu settings.

I am not trying to confuse anyone here that you can already use the current mustang preset cabinet models from the 1x8 -4x12 cab's,the new cab matching feature would let me choose my line 6 spider 4x12 cabinet from a menu so that now the fender amp models sound much better with my cab because it is matched,if i now select a fender preset amp model like the 65' twin reverb with the original fender 2x12 speakers,it will now sound much closer to the fender twin reverb amp model.I would also add a cabinet resonance tuning control to fine tune the cabinet.

Well that's open to interpretation. This is the one I would liked to see:
